I went to a couple of Evans
I went to a couple of Evans stores when I was looking at my Giant Propel. This admittedly is 8 years ago, but they were happy to let me loose on a couple of machines at both places. I had to leave my credit card details, but that wasn’t an issue.
I learned the Fuji aero bike at the time was way harsher than the Propel, and that the Cannondale Super Six was lovely but not massively different to the bike I already had.
I don’t understand how folk can buy a bike online; I tend to dismiss geo differences as marketing guff but the overall effect of a few mm here or there and half a degree at that junction can have a massive difference.

There’s something odd about this, I’ve lost a couple of Local Legend segments on commutes, and whoever has taken it from me has definitely done it less times than me.
I’m looking at an Italian Alps segment for the summer. The Local Legend has done it once, but isn’t the KOM. The KOM as posted the same time twice ?! https://www.strava.com/segments/4394844
Also, if I have to wear a seatbelt, you should have to wear a helmet
Except you are statistically more likely to bang your head behind the steering wheel of your car than on your pushbike…so you should wear a seatbelt AND helmet when driving…

Rendel Harris wrote:Not sure if it counts as the scariest thing to happen, as not much actually happened, but riding up a long climb in the Alpes Maritimes and hearing, seemingly pretty close by, the howl of a wolf was probably the most scared I’ve been on a bike, probably the fastest I’ve climbed for many a year as well! (It sounded as if it was coming from down the mountain, so turning back didn’t really feel like an option)Similar thing happened to me, but with a twist. I was climbing the Blockhaus in Abruzzo, on a section just after a village. The road zig zagged up the mountain, and there was a shepherd and his 4 dogs taking the straight route, so they seemed to be crossing the road at the same time as I was labouring up the climb, which happened about 4 times. The dogs look a bit like large retrievers, but they can be vicious. They’re bred to deal with wolves!
Not only that, the shepherd was wearing red speedos, which really freaked me out…

I’m not sure how you would
I’m not sure how you would measure it accurately? I live in rural Sussex, rarely come across traffic lights never mind traffic jams. I never report any of the close passes and other lousy manoeuvres drivers make on me, and I reckon there’s one every 15 minutes or so.

It is an interesting read, but I don’t agree, especially as the DM hasn’t changed its direction, as far as I can tell. Our media has led us up the garden path for decades.

I refuse to click on the link. They supported Mosely and the Blackshirts so I have nothing to do with them. It’s a comic, no better than the Sun.

More from Abruzzo, this is Campo Imperatore or Emperors Field, high up in the Appenines half way between Rome and Pescara. Day 7 of the Giro will finish here, I think in the valley just below the peak on the left.

Abruzzo in the summer…this is the Via Verde a new cycling and walking path along the old railway line along the coast. The Giro is starting here with an individual TT in May, I *might* be able to wangle watching it from a yacht…

OP, that 450k, is that your usual weekly distance?!

I’m 57 and aim to ride between 100 and 200 km a week. I don’t have achey joints but muscle fatigue is a problem. I rode two days consecutively this week, and then had a day off; the day off I really didn’t feel like riding.
I get moody if I don’t ride for 5 days or so. Not sure about sleep, my wife isn’t a great sleeper so any bad night could just be down to her huffing and puffing.
I’m recovering from a broken clavicle in July, and got what they call Frozen Shoulder, so my whole left arm is a problem. An hour or so is ok, then it starts as a nagging pain and after about 2 hours I just want to stop. Doing physio and it is improving, but it makes the thought of long rides difficult. I could take paracetemol along with me, but I think I should focus on the physio really.

I ran a cheap one for a while
I ran a cheap one for a while, think it cost around 40 quid. For me, it wasn’t worth the effort. The battery life was around an hour, and some of my commutes are longer than that, so which part do you record? The video was shaky, number plates unreadble, and I had to clear the memory card every few hours, so all in all there was no return on quite a bit of effort.
I also found it took away some of the joy of cycling for me. I wasn’t going out to catch people, but the extra hassle of another piece of high tech kit to worry about if it was working, if it would run out of charge, yadda yadda yadda…I just want to ride. Admittedly without being scared shitless every 5 minutes, but I’ve lived with poor driving for over 40 years.

My assumption would be (and I have no strong feelings about LBC one way or the other) that use of the ” ” at this stage, while it is under investigation, is probably a lawyers advice sort of deal.
If it was me writing the tweet I might have just gone with killed, which would be a statement of fact.
I kind of thought that, but why then did the only use speech marks in the headline, not the actual report?
