Where do drivers think that tyre or brake disc that started on 8mm and is now 3 mm has gone??

My guess is most don’t even know what those things are, they take their cars to a garage, pay the bill and drive away to watch while watching some more cat videos.

But that doesn’t really explain it, we see reports all the time of disqualified drivers getting caught driving who simply have bans extended, the jail term bit rarely gets enforced. I remember an example few years back a guy who was disqualified from driving because of a crash where he killed his passenger & dangerous driving, was caught driving again, they just extended his ban. And this sentence was over 3 years, that’s longer than the guy who drove through a red light and killed a pedestrian got.

Yes, it does seem a longer sentence than is normal. I can’t find an article on the original driving ban to see how this started. Maybe it didn’t start with the original ban. There are comments on the article from November from “Karen Gillingham” in which she says that we’re being given only half the story. I think she meant it as some sort of defence but maybe there is more to it

police identified Hanlon as the driver of the crashed car and took him to hospital before arresting him on suspicion of driving whilst disqualified.

Hanlon didn’t know he was serving a driving ban, and didn’t receive a letter from the DVLA about the disqualification because he failed to tell them about an address change.

Hanlon, who was serving the driving ban after receiving 12 points on his licence.

If buses are too big to go around a roundabout and get stuck so easily, they should be banned! I have to use my car because buses are so unreliable.

Brake pad dust can be more

Brake pad dust can be more toxic than exhaust emissions, study says (Grauniad)

Research shows move to electric vehicles may not be enough to enable pollution from cars to be eradicated

    https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2025/feb/14/brake-pad-dust-toxic-exhaust-emissions

The scientists examined the effects on lung health of particulate matter from four different types of brake pad with differing chemical compositions; low metallic, semi-metallic, non-asbestos organic and hybrid-ceramic.

Results showed that of the four types of brake pads, non-asbestos organic pads were the most potent at inducing inflammation and other markers of toxicity, and were found to be more toxic to human lung cells than diesel exhaust particles. Ceramic pads were the second most toxic.

Who’d like to wager that she also started misquoting the Magna Carta and talking about her name being a legal fiction…?

It’s strange how she thought that she needed a licence, then she got disqualified and realised that she was a Freeman of the Land or something like that

    Disqualified motorist swears

Disqualified motorist swears she doesn’t need a licence or MOT to drive a car

A woman who had already been disqualified from driving insisted she did not need a licence or MOT when stopped by police officers. The driver, who refused to give her details when stopped at Truro, told Devon and Cornwall Police she did not require a driving licence, insurance or an MOT, among other essentials, in order for her to travel.

Her tax expired on May 1, 2024, and the MOT ran out on November 22. Devon and Cornwall Police No Excuses team said the driver was arrested and charged with a multitude of offences as a result.

The team posted to social media on February 3: “Driver of this car was adamant that she did not need a licence, insurance, MOT etc to allow her to travel. After refusing her details some detective work showed she was disqualified – she was arrested and has been charged with all offences #NoExcuse.”

Bad news, guys, the case has been listed to heard by Judge Donnison.
