A new catch-all Tea Shop thread for those miscellaneous new stories that don’t quite fit with parking, crashing into buildings or trapped/prisoners in their homes.

Yours worked wonders, but if you insist, I’ll hop to it…why the need for extra police? Did the fire brigade bottle it?

    Stouport residents bemoan

Stouport residents bemoan huge traffic queues through town

Reacting to the traffic, Jill Paggett said: “It’s like it every day. I think we need to get used to it.

“Bypass with a new bridge will never happen. Just add another 45 mins to get from Walshes to Stourport on your journey. I do.

“Maybe 60 mins when all the new houses are occupied.”

Walsh’s looks to be a caravan park next to the bridge into Stourport. The town has (naturally) been carved-up by a one-way system, so I guess the traffic engineers have done all that is possible.  No roadworks to blame it would seem. Perhaps it was just an Easter hols départ going through?

    One more concreted over grass

One more concreted over grass verge will fix it

Oasis Academy: could grass be turned into parking spaces?

Cllr Desayrah said: “Whilst it’s really nice to have some green space around the flats, given the chronic lack of parking available to residents and the displacement of school pick-up time parking, I think it might make sense for Platform Housing to consider making the grass verges into residents’ parking and I will ask them to consider it.

    cyclist should be made to

cyclists should be made to have number plates – Interesting police video here of the range of illegal number plates – we’d got, as the caption says, tinted, a couple where the plate is mis-stated with illegal spacing or amended characters, a CF effect, a couple of colour underlays, the wording underneath has to show the maker’s information.

An invitation to get hauled over, I’d have thought.

    Calls for Oxfordshire

Calls for Oxfordshire transport chief to resign blocked

    https://www.oxfordmail.co.uk/news/25055825.calls-oxfordshire-transport-chief-resign-blocked/

This article describes a whole lot of political nonsense (you need to win the election if want to change policy) but is an example – there are others in Bournemouth and Southampton and others – of how a progressive transport lead becomes a focus for driver hate in the microcosm of the Comments sections of local newspapers.

    It must take some guts.

I bet it speeds down towpaths and weaves in and out of boats, and it’s definitely not wearing a helmet or hi vis.

Sadly the image accompanying the article is “A generic photo of a swan” and not the actual bird in question.

What is this, a day for swans?

At this rate, we’re gonna need a different thread.
