Surgeon caught speeding
Surgeon caught speeding dodges road ban as it would have ‘life threatening’ consequences for patients
https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/22674101/professor-caught-speeding-avoids-driving-ban-patients/
Professor Chris Peach, 47, was facing a minimum six month ban under the totting up procedure after he was clocked exceeding the 70mph limit on a motorway. But the married father of three successfully appealed to keep his licence under exceptional hardship rules by claiming that patients and colleagues would ”suffer” if he was not able to drive to hospital during emergencies.
…
Stockport magistrates heard Peach who lives in Hale, near Altrincham, Cheshire, was caught on camera on July 22 last year driving his Land Rover Discovery at 89 mph between junctions 16 and 17 on the southbound section of the M5 near Tortworth, Gloucestershire.
And just to be clear, those emergencies: his defence explained that he’s on call one night in 12 and on one weekend in 12 and taxis are apparently too unreliable and what if something like the Manchester Arena bombing happened and he couldn’t get there because the taxi was delayed, m’lud?

“The nature of on-call duties usually involves dealing with traumatic injuries, including road traffic injuries.“

I’m not in the habit of stopping in lay-bys at night, but I couldn’t have told you about that one (rule 248) to be honest.
But I definitely know rule 249 – it’s what side-lights are for, and must be a lot older? A lot of cars let you put only the relevant side on as well and battery life/ LED improvements must mean they can be on for a while – it was instant death leaving your lights on, like flooding the engine, when I learnt to drive.

We forgot to say that the owner of the coach also had a red Ferrari. Unfortunately, it had not been taxed since December 2022 and was also seized
He should have moved to Lancashire! The Crims choice Audi A4, no MOT, insurance or VED for 3 1/2 years, reported several times (first occasion 1.7.22) and often filmed around Garstang, and this is it parked 20 yards from Garstang Police Station- a favourite police rest stop where hordes of TacOps ANPR/ video equipped police cars often hang out together avoiding work

So what the lorry driver is saying is that in the 24 years since passing his test, he hasn’t picked up a copy of the highway code? Because it’s there in black and white (Rule 249).
And if he thinks lorry drivers are “easy pickings”, I would suggest law enforcement would have a much easier time enforcing Rule 248 – go to any residential street at night (excluding those where most houses have driveways) and you’ll find a significant proportion of cars are parked illegally facing the wrong way. I daresay the majority of drivers are completely ignorant of that requirement.

Paignton party bus owner has ‘Ferrari’ towed for not paying road tax
Some say the ‘Ferrari’ looks like a Toyota Celica badged up in a fancy suit
follow-up story
As a result of mounting complaints, the party bus was towed away again last weekend, also for noise disturbances. Now it’s DJ Dickson’s car which has been impounded after it turns out it has not been taxed for months, according to the police.
“I am planning on taking to Europe to DJ. I used to work as a HGV Class 1 lorry driver in Europe but I never got to stop and look at all the different places I travelled to. Now I will get to go back and have some holiday time and I already have some gigs lined up.” – sure you have.
