BBC article:
“The solution is to open the bridge to all traffic, make the cyclists use the designated cycle bridge which is 100 meters down the track. Or make the cyclists dismount and walk over the bridge.”
I don’t understand the focus on cyclists – why would making them dismount improve his business?
Incidentally – is there a suitable cargo eapc or bicycle trailer he could use to transport his carpets?
I notice that he doesn’t carry a bucket – what does he do about the pony eggs?

The vehemence – is that, though? 20 mph is very hard to argue against at least with any facts, so drivers rapidly end up in conspiracy land instead.

Ah, “the greater good”, “more sensible laws” – expect to hear more heavy lifting from phrases like this if Reform make political progress. And of course 120 years of car domination has just magically happened, no politics at all.

All good but the hope for “better humans through exhortation / trying to reason with people it’s in their best interests” has existed since history and likely before. With… mixed results. (See “eat and drink in moderation, 5 a day, take exercise ” etc. all of which have clearer direct benefit to self…)chrisonabike

The vehemence of some on this subject and the repeated concern about “causing contempt for the law” makes me wonder if we are missing something. I should perhaps explore that memeplex a bit further.Or … is it really just “no change for me, I’ll not have others tell me how to drive” – perhaps embedded so deeply that such commentary are unaware of it in themselves?

David9694 wrote:Council’s £195k spend on 20mph signs slammed as ‘a total waste of time and money’Actually I think they are onto something here. Save money by not having speed limit signs but keep the speed limits and increase the number of cameras. It would pay for itself in no time and save loads of money.
