Looks like a a pre-emptive attempt at a new dodge, for when the present ‘medical incident but I’m completely well now’ stops working

The issue is you want the
The issue is you want the driving gears separated by the neutral, so there’s no chance of knocking,or the gear jumping into another driving gear whilst moving, because that would end badly. You want the park somewhere that’s also out the way as it locks the transmission but near something where your going to be using it alot more, like reversing into or out of parking spaces. And so that’s just how they mechanically designed them back in the day and the ordering stuck. Manufacturers have tried changing it but it’s always led to more issues because people are used to the existing format which is standardised in the US iirc

But even on my manual box I have reverse forward, and some forward gears in reverse. On motorbikes first gear is often down and then the rest are all up

There appear to be a great many motorists who accidentally put their cars in first-gear instead of reverse (or vice versa).  How do you do that?

Bit of a strange one – the steering failed but the driver ended up in a garden in their bus. The road is very straight there and if they had come out of the side road how would they be going so fast as to end up in the garden ?
