A new catch-all Tea Shop thread for those miscellaneous new stories that don’t quite fit with parking, crashing into buildings or trapped/prisoners in their homes.

    Gosh, imagine all those buses

Gosh, imagine all those buses safely transporting 10, 20 or 30 people.  “Not a car nut” he claims, oh and he’s not local, but why let that stop you giving an opinion?

Letter: Low-traffic neighbourhood will increase pollution on some Bath roads

‘There would need to be an almost continuous stream of buses’

    This always seems like

This always seems like practised behaviour. Can’t believe it ever washes or ever could.

As someone who had to pay

As someone who had to pay nearly a grand to get my headlights replaced (its a BMW so my bad) after driving through the “puddle” which appears everything it rains on Sandon Road Stafford (its got its own Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/helpforsandonroad/ ) why would you risk it?

    More money than sense perhaps?

    Everyone down to Totnes in

Everyone down to Totnes in the next few weeks – roadworks making Fore Street pedestrianised. By the way, the big old road closure in Brixham, the one that’s going to kill off the town, started this week.

Nigel added: “I’m not particularly in favour of pedestrianisation. I’m in favour of traffic management and calming measures. People park near our shop, come and shop with us and traders nearby and get back in their car…”

Hmm, I’ve never been a trader, but all this reliance on super easy/ fast turnover car access?  I guess for some products, location is really important – like ice cream. But I if you are offering something really good, not available on-line, people will come.

Totnes traders demoralised as road closure bites

Large parts of Totnes town centre will be closed to vehicles for the next three months

I love a cars stuck in fords compilation, really love it, one of the best ways to waste time on the Internet. But never has it made me want to go sacrifice my couple of tons of metal to the great god of rufford… what the hell is wrong with people.

    Think someone did a comedy

Think someone did a comedy routine on Northern cities with deficient shopping locations named Arndale Centre.  Personally I think they should have gone with “Sambach Centre” or maybe “Old Chip centre”, but I don’t make the rules.

I’d like Mr Highways expert to come and look at some of my local routes – if he thinks this is bad, he’s in for a few shocks.

Forgot to include a link – glad that someone noticed.

Manchester: the largest of the Arndale Centres Wiki so helpfully states, and I think I counted only 3 others that have kept the original name.

    More from Clevedon:

Government called upon to intervene over controversial seafront changes

A highways consultant has highlighted a series of safety concerns regarding the changes to Clevedon seafront

… concerns that pedestrians will face walking into the path of cyclists when using the crossings across the lane and that people getting out of cars using the ‘narrow pedestrian strips’ could also come into conflict with riders.

Shouldn’t they have looked into all that before the council did the work, if they are so concerned about the council wasting money??

    and

Hundreds of people gathered on Clevedon seafront to protest against changes to the road network” – and yet I count thirteen people and a dog on their photo

    “Delivery drivers have also

“Delivery drivers have also been unable to park up and I hear parents have had difficulties too.”

At some point the penny might drop…

(I don’t know what options were considered, but I imagine the bollards were chosen to deter pavement parking whilst facilitating access to driveways for vehicles and pedestrian access to bus stops.)
