Nice to see Age UK defending the Grey Menace, the “I’ve got no choice/ oh whoops have I spent the last 50 years driving everywhere and killing off the local buses?”

Hairdressers shop fronts and Tesco car parks beware.

    Like most BMW’s, indicators

Like most BMW’s, indicators were optional on my new car. I decided to pay the extra to have them fitted, just so I had the fun of not using them to signal a turn. They do however, come in handy when parking on double yellow lines as I pop into the shops for a take away.

    Interesting – a rare mention

Interesting – a rare mention of what happens at the end of people’s “driving career” on the Beeb:

    bbc wrote:
A DfT spokesperson said: “All drivers are already required to ensure they are medically fit to drive, and all car drivers over 70 must renew their licence every three years. We have no plans to change the requirements for older drivers.

Of course it would be great if we could offer people the ability to keep mobile but in a safer way, to help maintain independence and social connections.  Public transport deserts in the UK though and almost nothing like this:

Who else benefits from the Dutch cycling infrastructure

Compare with the “I had to

Compare with the “I had to pay 6p for petrol” story, it’s surprising how willing and unwilling drivers are to hand over their money. Schrödinger’s cash cow.
