A new catch-all Tea Shop thread for those miscellaneous new stories that don’t quite fit with parking, crashing into buildings or trapped/prisoners in their homes.

A mum has faced abuse for having to park on a busy A-road after double yellow lines were painted over her usual parking spot. Laura Murray, who lives in Keynsham with her son, originally used the on-street parking on Pixash Lane which was removed in February as part of work to accommodate the new Keynsham Recycling Hub.Now she has been forced to leave her car parked on the busy A4 Bath Road in order to park near her house, but has faced abuse from other drivers. Ms Murray said: “It’s been an absolute nightmare.”
She said: “That’s the only legal place I can park because anywhere else is double yellows. They won’t let me park on the land outside my house because it’s not a dropped kerb and apparently it’s too close to the junction.”

Cornish town overrun by
Cornish town overrun by ‘nightmare’ tourists and ‘horrendous’ traffic
Tourist season can reportedly leave locals trapped and unable to move their cars (According to A1 Cars’ Andrew Ward – silly season is upon us and it’s this sort of nonsense Reach want us to protect against the ravening BBC)
Enjoy too the Tripadvisor comments on cold seawater at St Ives. The one and two star ratings of any venue are always good sport.

The answer to why they only charge to get out of Cornwall; people are just so eager to get to Cornwall that they’re going too fast to stop for the toll

No, Officer, they are er for wheelie bins. Yes, the opposite neighbour, it’s his birthday – he has a lot of bins.

It’ll be interesting to see
It’ll be interesting to see which way the comments go on the march, assuming it gets off the ground. So far it’s ritual hate between Cornwall and Devon, but Blakey has it right – Jamsdad isn’t local either or he might know he’s pretty much listed the first few train stations in Cornwall; Torpoint has its ferry, of course.

I take it that the Police will be heavy handed in their usual way and arrest everyone who steps into the road to distrupt the God that is motor traffic. Afterall, the law is the same for us all…. or is it only relevant if the Polices paymasters don’t like the reason behind the demonstration?

Apparently, this ‘could result in serious repercussions, including drivers not knowing what the speed limit is and increasing the risk of dangerous driving’…at 20 m.p.h.?!

Dalat Gulzar, 51, ignored signs and flashing light at Llanbedr railway station, in Gwynedd, before narrowly missing a collision with a train
In mitigation, Nathan Goldstein said his client was a “hard working family man” who had experienced a “moment of absolute madness” which will have a profound effect upon his life. He said the defendant, who accepted his guilt following the verdict, would suffer as a result of a driving ban and would possibly have to close his business if he were not able to properly serve his customers.

Ah, of course. Where dollars are cheaper and “roadie” means a beer for the road. Well everyone’s having a fair go there. She’ll be apples…

David9694 wrote:Oh ha ha ha,can’t you take a joke? Get fucked, Facebook for allowing this to stand.Let’s overthink this. I’m confused about the “dollar” – presumably if literal this is a rather small car for the US, having crossed onto the wrong side of the road to run into a cyclist head-on?
All the stereotypes there. Helmet and “cyclist” clothing (check). Man, not e.g. woman, child or pensioner (TBF all quite unlikely – well, outside Scandinavia, NL, some German cities, some parts of Belgium, Seville, parts of London…). “Sporty”.
What we don’t see: obviously despite caption there is no cycle path. But there is no footway either. In fact this is apparently so far out in the country there are no road markings at the edge of the road. (Wonder how many motorists crash off it at night?) Strangely though there are no potholes or road damage. I wonder how many millions that section of road cost?
It’s apparently the countryside and yet speeding cars are totally normal. Obviously the point of the image is the tight focus but we don’t see the other motor vehicles which must be there – because it seems there is no other way to get around.
Straight out of the fantasies used to sell motor vehicles and motoring!
