A new catch-all Tea Shop thread for those miscellaneous new stories that don’t quite fit with parking, crashing into buildings or trapped/prisoners in their homes.

I’m not a dog expert, but that doesn’t look like a labrador?

If a dog self-identifies as a labrador, then who are we to argue?

I’ve no experience of what the courts are doing with cases like this – I suspect they’re regarded as an unnecessary stream of activity.

Not really wanting to go on the drivers’ side, but companies shouldn’t be allowed to profit from making things unclear. It’s very common on websites where you have “dark patterns” that are designed to trick people into paying more or signing up for things they don’t want. If the car park has a space that isn’t for parking and drivers are genuinely confused over it, then I think the fines should be quashed until the car park owners mark it clearly as not being available for parking.

Just because something is in Terms and Conditions, doesn’t necessarily make it enforceable – it has to be reasonable. They could put in a line about BMWs having to take up at least two spaces and then charge them if they don’t, but …… hold on, that example doesn’t work.

The usual driver response on road noise issues is “don’t live there then”, so is there a corollary for drivers in 20 mph areas?
Anyway, scientists monitoring a bear breeding programme are recording “higher concentrations of droppings amongst the trees” reflecting the apparent success of the programme:

That parking space charge does seem unfair. If they’re going to insist that people only park in marked spaces, then the markings should be clear and unambiguous. If they don’t want people parking in that space, then they need to just put yellow diagonal lines across it.

    Parking charges to be

Parking charges to be introduced at Chatham Dockside

Radhe has lived in Chatham for the last 37 years and explained she’d be less inclined to come to Dockside if she had to pay for parking.

She said: “It’s a bad idea. It will discourage people from coming.”

Her friend, Helen, lives in France but was visiting dockside with Radhe for coffee and a catch-up.

She added: “We chose to come here for coffee today as we know it’s free to park here.

“We probably wouldn’t have if we knew we had to pay for parking. Business will suffer if they start charging for parking.

so your friend from France is over (ok so living in France doesn’t make you a wealthy person per se) but you are driving somewhere for coffee.

does £1.25 for up to two hours’ parking really mean that much to you?

Fresh Exeter road blocks fury as angry locals slam hellish traffic

“What would have taken me a five minute journey to Heavitree now takes me 25 minutes through horrendous traffic”

When asked how she had found the scheme so far, Hayley Oldridge said: “Horrendous, because I live at the bottom of Wykes Road and everybody that would normally go up through Heavitree is turning around and there’s so much congestion and cars hitting each other at the end of that road or they’ll come zooming up Wykes Road. It’s just moving a problem from one area to another.

“What would have taken me a five minute journey to Heavitree now takes me 25 minutes through horrendous traffic. How is that saving pollution? It’s actually causing more pollution.”

    Livid tourist told to pay

Livid tourist told to pay £100 fine despite proof he paid to park

Stuart Watson has been told to pay a parking charge notice (PCN) despite providing proof he paid all along

    mate.you.are.literally.driving.along.with.a.dog.on.your.lap

“He explained how on August 9 he parked in the car park and left the windows on his converted Volkswagon open for his pet labrador. His ticket then blew over because of the breeze.”

that’s if the poor thing survived being left in the car for how ever long – beach car parks aren’t known for having a lot of shade, are they? Perhaps 9 August was one of those indifferent weather days? Dogs are banned from the beach during the day, so I start to wonder if you thought this through.

    Car driver and passenger are

Car driver and passenger are victims of alleged assault by pedestrian

Police are appealing for witnesses following an alleged assault in Ceredigion. Officers said an altercation took place between two pedestrians and the driver and passenger of a white Volkswagen Tiguan SUV near Llanarth on Wednesday, August 23.

i wish every time a driver assaulted me with his car I could get this kind of police response. Victims my arse.

I was stopped at a light once

I was stopped at a light once, and a pedestrian, perhaps a bit OCD, was pressing the button about every second for over a minute.
