A new catch-all Tea Shop thread for those miscellaneous new stories that don’t quite fit with parking, crashing into buildings or trapped/prisoners in their homes.

This country needs more patriotic bollards! To keep out those violent migrants from the continent, the (checks notes) internal combustion engines! Created, note – by Germans! – Rudolf Diesel and er… Dr. Petrol! Anyway good on the locals for er… patriotically defending this once green and pleasant land!bikes
“working hard to take care of
“working hard to take care of the green space.” By driving on it?!

Hmm, ANPR car park with 24h Evri lockers in it, with a 10-minute grace period – there is a bit of muddled thinking going on here. But what drew me to this story is this little bit of carbrain
Evri users slapped with outrageous £100 fines at The Range car park
One angry customer got a £100 ticket for going TWO SECONDS over the ‘grace period’ allowed by the private parking firm
“I was using the post lockers as a number of people do,” she said “I can only assume Parkingeye don’t realise the post lockers are there. I have appealed, as how else are you supposed to use the lockers?”

I think there is a going
I think there is a growing realisation among business and the public of the damage caused by Brexit.
My hope is that labour will continue to improve our trading relationships with Europe and that the shortcomings of Reform and Farage will be exposed as they come under more scrutiny.
I can’t see us rejoining Europe in the near future. For one thing the EU govts have better things to do with their time.stonojnr

Porsch drivers and their
Porsch drivers and their problems –Christian Wolstencroft said he was in the car park of the OK Diner browsing the menu when he had to leave and was unable to dine in as planned.
Mr Wolstencroft, who visited the restaurant [car park, for 17 minutes] on September 30, said he finds it “concerning” that customers who may need to leave the premises, or “simply exercise their liberty to change their mind”, may find themselves “slammed with a £100 penalty”.“The fact is that OK Diners are located, in my experience, in the middle of nowhere, next to a petrol station on a dual carriageway. “Somewhere you wouldn’t dream there would be strict parking regimes.
Dafydd Lawrie, the director of OK Diner, said they had experienced “major issues” with parking from non-customers at the site, which had resulted in restrictions being put in place in April 2024.
