A new catch-all Tea Shop thread for those miscellaneous new stories that don’t quite fit with parking, crashing into buildings or trapped/prisoners in their homes.

A new twist on the parkco
A new twist on the parkco fines here and driver victimhood evolves to meet the challenge:
“For them to restrict my freedom of movement to a car park even though I’m a paying customer is disgusting really. If I’d known I couldn’t even cross the road I wouldn’t have done it. I certainly don’t want to be paying a £100 fine when I’ve spent money there.”

sorry this has got nothing to do with cycling and just a passing reference to cars : “honk if you’re a as full of hatred as we are!”.
How do you get to the stage where you’re prepared (superficially at least – you can bail out any time) to live like asylum seekers often live in order to oppose them.

The High Court ruled that the plans are not unlawful

This seems to raise more
This seems to raise more questions than it answers, like what’s the sequence from getting a ticket to court (collection of a debt) and to whatever tribunal (which hasn’t pronounced yet.
Also, IME Council officers are regulations anoraks and if there is a 20 cm rule, as there is in this house let me tell you, they’re usually well across it.
Anyway here’s plucky Chris and his tiny road sign:

I wish we had politicians that wanted social justice rather than competing with each other to make things as unfair as possible and stacking the odds against the poor and vulnerable.
Maybe the French were onto something with the guillotine and it’s about time that we instilled some fear into the ruling class.

ULEZ camera blown up with IED just hours after it was installed
The backlash against the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) cameras continued this week when a camera was blown up.The device in Sidcup, south-east London, appears to have been destroyed by an improvised explosive device at around 6.45pm on Wednesday.
People leaving nearby said their homes and cars were damaged by the explosion from what has been described as a ‘low-sophistication’ device.
The explosion is not being treated as terrorism, but, because of the nature of the crime, explosives experts from the counter-terror demand are leading the investigation.

And the usual comments in the article:
Some critics claim not enough people cycle along Beaulieu Road to justify a cycleway. They also dispute the need for a new pedestrian crossing so close to an existing one.Mr Patel said: “If the county council has got money to spare maybe they should use it to subsidise our business rates or invest in more police to deal with crime and anti-social behaviour.”
Subside your business rates, Mr Patel? That hardly seems a fair use of public money …

A roadworker has spoken out about how a man armed with a bat attacked his colleague because a road was closed. … Victim Brenton McLean, who works for Balfour Beatty, said a van driver asked to go through a closed road – claiming he lived on the street – but turned violent when asked his address. Brenton said: “The guy then proceeded to get out of the van with a rounders bat or baseball bat and me and four or five other of my colleagues came rushing to his gate and the guy was just hitting him with the bat.SaveTheWail
