A new catch-all Tea Shop thread for those miscellaneous new stories that don’t quite fit with parking, crashing into buildings or trapped/prisoners in their homes.

Their argument for not agreeing is that they would get many photographs of speeding motorists

So an overt admission that the police are not interested in what one might describe as “doing their job” and prosecuting criminals when supplied with clear evidence of an offence?

Not sure how they swerve onto

    knocked?

Short for “knocked off”, one assumes.

    one more innovation will fix

one more innovation will fix it – sounds like someone’s had a bad day:

Opinion: Secret Thinker on ‘smart’ motorways and excessive road restrictions causing traffic headaches on Kent’s roads

However, it is not just these new-fangled road schemes themselves causing extra traffic headaches, as their introduction also seems to have created a whole new army of overly cautious and zealous traffic officers determined to stamp their authority on any situation.

But, have you noticed how even the most minor of bumps, or just a breakdown, can lead to snarl-ups which delay everyone for hours on end?  (Gosh – noticed that, have you?)

The ludicrous design of smart motorways obviously leads to far more stranded vehicles in live lanes but even when drivers make it to the emergency refuge areas the traffic is still forced to slow down until it begins to pile up and the inside lane is also closed needlessly.

You get miles of reduced speed because of a report of animals or pedestrians where there is nothing (or maybe there was, and the signs are still showing). Worse still is when the reduction and signs continue for miles after the obstruction or broken down vehicle.

Don’t forget to add something about population too : Each [new] home has 2/3 cars and developers chasing easy money obviously aren’t interested in creating any sort of infrastructure to support the flood of new homeowners moving in.

Local custom is loyal custom. If you’ve built your retail business on custom from passing car drivers  why does it come as a shock that they will use their mobility to go elsewhere whenever there’s a better or easier offer?

Shocking moment Exeter van driver clashes with human bollards

Police say no offences were committed and described the incident as “a minor altercation”

It is worth repeating: why are the ‘human bollards’ described as protesters? There’s a bus gate, and planters, and a traffic regulation order, all stopping through traffic there, so surely its people like the van driver in the clip who are the actual protesters??
