Deansway closure angers Worcestershire County Council

Councillor Mike Rouse, cabinet member for highways and transport for Worcestershire County Council, said Severn Trent was putting Worcestershire people through misery.

“I was very disappointed to hear about the unauthorised closure of Deansway by Severn Trent this morning, one of the city’s busiest roads, at one of the busiest times of the day,” he said.

“Severn Trent Water appears to constantly abuse the emergency permit system for street works to suit them and their project management needs, but they are putting the public of Worcestershire through absolute misery, and it’s got to stop.

“I will be demanding a meeting with the chief executive of Severn Trent Water to understand how she will ensure that Severn Trent Water plans their works better, engage with the residents and businesses that will be affected, and put a stop to riding roughshod over the permitting system.

Man grabbed driver by the throat in dispute over parking

The victim, in his 50s, was in his parked vehicle in the Sandbanks Ferry car park on Banks Road at around 12.10pm on March 14.

He became involved in an argument with another motorist over parking, who then grabbed him by the throat and took his mobile phone.

The phone was recovered by the victim and he did not sustain any serious injuries.

* If a weedy one e.g. only a year, plus “if you do it again and we can’t ignore it, we will tell you not to do it again, again”.  I guess he can afford to take taxis / hire a driver also?

The Welsh roundabout exit which has cost thousands of drivers half a million pounds in just one year

Two reasons why this is a tax on the stupid….firstly, the road signs are clear both on the main approach to the roundabout and on the turn off itself. Anyone not knowing what the signs mean, should not be driving.

And secondly, anyone who eats at McDonalds thinking its food needs to be taxed more to help pay for the damage their poor health choices are doing to the NHS.

Some of the comments BTL…. blimey. And we share the roads with these people. 

Edited to add….just checked Google maps…. the road lay out has been like that since the first photo they took back in…… 2009!  Almost 15 years ago and they still haven’t worked out what the signs mean. Really…..?

Between public Highway and entirely private land sits public land to which the public has access – like Asda car park. I know the police can and do take all sorts of action against the so-called car meets (I.e. organised mass trespass) in superstore car parks, for example.

Yeah, I just copied/pasted that from a cursory search and didn’t dig any deeper, but it does appear that you’re correct – idling on private land isn’t illegal (according to at least a couple of websites).
