Motorists find letters under their wipers telling them not to park near Platt Primary School

Where are we supposed to park? (A driver with a parking issue is everyone’s problem.)

That is the question being asked by residents of Whatcote Cottages on London Road, Platt, after being ticked off by the local primary school head teacher who has been leaving notes under their windscreen wipers.

You’d think the residents would be keen to retain the stump as protection against the ‘Sudden Unexplained Car in the Front Room’ incident shown on the ‘Drivers in Your House’ topic- if a Honda driver can do that, just imagine how far through the house a BMW or Audi could get!

Stump wasn’t wearing hi-vis – clad in dark low-contrast bark.
Stump wobbled and suddenly fell in front of the car.
Stump wasn’t wearing a helmet (“is this right, counsel?”)
Stump unexpectedly appeared where no careful, competent driver would expect it (on pavement)
Driver was distracted by having to avoid a stump on the opposite pavement.
“Exceptional” weather conditions prevented the driver from seeing the stump (dark due to night, overcast, spot of rain)
Sun was in the driver’s eyes.
Driver said they had looked several times but “simply failed to see it”.
