New parking charges in
New parking charges in Somerset towns a ‘tax on the poor’
Plans to end free parking have been slammed
But, speaking at a full meeting of Bath and North East Somerset Council on Thursday July 18, Shaun Hughes (Midsomer Norton North, Independent) warned councillors: “Emissions based charges are a tax on the poor, people who can’t afford the latest electric vehicle or the latest fuel efficient vehicles.”

Beautiful stallion left in
Beautiful stallion left in absolute agony after Dartmoor crash
The poor animal had to be put down
Posting a distressing image of a horse laying on its side, he wrote: “I had to wait with this beautiful stallion last night until somebody came and shot him. He was hit by local driver whose first line of defence was ‘I wasn’t driving fast.’
“Yes, you were. You were driving too fast – that’s why you couldn’t brake in time. If you were driving slower, you would’ve had enough time to brake. Either that or you just weren’t paying attention. You were probably rushing home because of the massive traffic jams everywhere yesterday. Either way, this beautiful boy had to be shot. Everybody, drive slower and pay more attention so this horrendous waste of life doesn’t happen.”

Safety fears as drivers
Safety fears as drivers travel wrong way down one-way Milton Street in Maidstone to escape a road closure caused by sinkhole at Hackney Road
Fant resident Emma Archer-Simms said: “People are driving the wrong way down Milton Street, Dover Street and Pope Street, and with people mounting the kerb to get around.
“With school holidays approaching, it could be a child who is seriously injured or killed.”

From a local (to me) article
From a local (to me) article on a man named Dominick Clark being sentenced for a street racing crash, we have, I believe, the undisputed champion of manipulating words to remove the agency from drivers.
“According to preliminary information from officers, two cars were allegedly drag racing during the incident and one of the cars then tried to flee the scene with Clark behind the wheel.”
I’m sure poor Dominick was holding onto the wheel for dear life as his car fled the scene!

Thanks for the advance warning. The only proper such episode I have experienced in Lancashire, apart from the nutters shouting out the window, was from the close passing driver of BMW PK14 HLW in August 21 who claimed to have ‘given me 1.5 metres’ and threatened to ‘fucking flatten’ me and to knock me off my bike, when I caught him up at some road works. It was all on video, but it took over 6 weeks to receive a reply from the police. The officer claimed to have been temporarily transferred to another station! The result was: ‘he shouldn’t have spoken to you like that’.

Devon residents ‘trapped’ by roadwork traffic hell
A quarter mile journey is taking motorists an hour to complete
One Ogwell resident has written to Devon Highways to vent his “disgust and frustration” at the three-week closure. He says: “The current road closures have been implemented with absolutely no consideration for the residents of Ogwell, Denbury, and Ipplepen, who now face being effectively trapped or enduring an hour-long trip to travel just 0.25 miles.

I like the response from
I like the response from herefordman99:
even if the scooter is road legal, then why use the road when the footpath is more than adequate? Surely it should only be used on the road where there is no available footpath to use? […] Before anyone says anything, my wife uses one (not class 3 though), so i know the regulations surrounding them.Doesn’t appear to know the regulations that a C3 scooter rider cannot use its legally permitted 8 mph top speed on the pavement (must stay at or below 4 mph), so there is a perfectly good reason for them to be on the road even if there is an available footpath.

I can understand your annoyance but I have seen mobility scooter rider’s using the road when there is a perfectly good pavement they can use. Recently one coming down Ross Road holding up traffic and a empty pavement.Droitwich speeding and car cruising increases patrols
A spokesperson for Droitwich SNT said: “Over the last two months, PC Cook 22320 has been proactively patrolling the area doing high visibility patrols around Worcester and Droitwich.
