Koga launch 40th anniversary Kimera Road Pro

Bicycle manufacturers like to celebrate anniversaries and the latest to do just that are Koga, who are celebrating their 40th this year with the release of the limited edition Kimera Road Pro bike. Just 40 will be available and each will be individually numbered and finished with top-end kit. It'll cost £6,399.

The special edition model is based on the Kimera aero road bike that the company unveiled last year and which we got a first ride on in Majorca earlier this year.

The 40th anniversary Kimera Road Pro will be built with top-end kit befitting such a limited bike, including a Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 groupset and Koga’s own hand-built wheels using 30mm high and 23mm wide carbon fibre clincher rims and polished black White Industries hubs with a titanium cassette body.

They’ve opted for a Fizik finishing kit, with an Antares 00 saddle with braided carbon rails, Cyrano carbon handlebar and Cyrano aluminium stem with titanium bolts. Claimed weight for the complete bike is 6.6kg (14.55lb) for a size 56cm without pedals.

The anniversary edition bike features a frame made from 40-ton high modulus carbon fibre with a unidirectional finish layer. The frame has been designed to be aerodynamic with profiled tubes and the rear brake hidden out of the airflow behind the bottom bracket. Koga have adopted Shimano’s direct mount brake caliper standard on this bike.

There’s also a press-fit bottom bracket, tapered head tube  (1 1/8in up top, 1 1/4in at the bottom), fully internal cable routing and carbon dropouts to shed a bit more weight. Seatpost diameter is 27.2mm to provide a bit of comfort-inducing deflection.
