Colnago V4Rs v Ridley Noah Fast

Hello,

I am looking for a new bike and deciding between two bikes because I can get a discount on them at my local bike shop. The two bikes are Colnago V4Rs and Ridley Noah Fast Disc both equipped with the new 12-speed Ultegra Di2. I will be using the new bike for training but especially for racing so performance is key. I am looking for a bike that is both aero, lightweight, stiff and will perform good in all types of races (e.g. flat, uphill, downhill). Both of the bikes are great and I can't decide which one would be right for me so I am asking for some help and advice. I would guess that the Ridley is more aero, whereas the Colnago is a bit lighter? If you know about the two bikes or own one of them please help me decide and provide some pros and cons for the both of them. Thank you very much in advance for your help.

I'd get the Ridley, I love them. No scientific reason.

I'd check the reach/stack figures for both and see how that lines up with your current bike, i.e. which fits you best

The best advice is:

1. Test ride them

2. Buy the one you really want!

I've not ridden either, but performance differences will be marginal. I would test both if you can (with the same wheels and tyres, ideally), then go with the one that feels better. You'll obviously add weight and looks into the equation.

If you can't get test rides, look at as many reviews as you can, concentrating on what they say about the ride. I bought a Merckx San Remo a few years ago; it was great in a sprint, it pointed into corners beautifully, but the rear end was too harsh. The reviews said as much.

So much of how a modern race bike rides is down to carbon layup and minutiae of frame design. You can only really tell by riding them.

Enjoy!
