Drunk driver crashes her Audi A3 into a telegraph pole on the afternoon of 7 August after getting pissed at a barbeque.
37 year old Leeanne Kelly Paton's Audi hit the pole beside the B4392 near New Mills, Powys. 23 month ban. I hope she learns her lesson (plus a sky-high insurance premium).

Travel chaos after lorry hits bridge in Winchester Road, Romsey
thoughts and prayers that it wasn't a food delivery.
Thanks road transport, so that's several hours of bus and train disruption you have inflicted.

The Times - Lorry drivers could get road ban for crashing into railway bridges
1,624 bridges were hit by vehicles in the year to the end of March 2021. That's an average of more than 4 per day, though 9% down on the 1,787 over the previous 12 months (surely due to the pandemic).
"Network Rail said that bridge strikes can cost about £23 million a year in structural repairs as well as compensation to passengers for cancelled or delayed services."

Car 'obstructing' pavement in Fordingbridge had expired MOT
how bad does it have to get before anything is done?
Why do we have to cite vulnerable groups to appeal to any ounce of compassion or shame drivers like this might have?
I wonder what the fine was for?

Drug driver banned after crashing lorry into tree
"He told the court that Wilton admitted to smoking cannabis in the evening to help him sleep at night as he suffered with arthritis and shoulder pain following an injury.
Mr Reynolds said that he felt entirely capable of driving and had merely carried out instructions provided to him.
He said: “He felt perfectly fit that day to drive and was simply following the instructions of his employer.”
The court heard that Wilton was immediately fired following the incident but has gained employed since at a different scaffolding company who Mr Reynolds said was fully aware of situation."

A 33-year-old man has been arrested after a lorry crashed into a house in East Kilbride.

Police said the 32-year-old, of Proctor Street in the city, caused damage totalling more than £23,000.
Driver died after his Ford Kuga destroys a wall in Chirbury, Shropshire. He lost control "for unknown reasons" before demolishing the wall and knocking over a telegraph pole in the village at around 11.30pm last Friday. It's beside a wide junction and would be on his nearside as he approached it, I'd venture that it is quite possible that he fell asleep at the wheel.

On the other side of the county, a Mercedes driver with 3 passengers failed in her bid to wreck the side of the Shakespeare Inn pub in Newport town centre at lunchtime on Thursday. The car got stuck on top of a bollard, there's a photo in the article below. It looks like she didn't give way at the junction, even though it is in a 20 mph zone [street view].

I think this one can definitely be put down to the vehicle owner. Never teach your car to do tricks.

A man was arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drink after the vehicle overturned on Gilbert Road in Redfield, but he was later de-arrested while further enquiries are carried out.
One witness claimed the car smashed into two parked vehicles, flipped on its side and then hit a parked van.
Came across this earlier drilling down through twitter not sure where it is

Be careful if you use your car in the execution of a harmless prank as it may pull a little joke of its own and pretend to have brake failure.

Not so much fun for the poor chap who is now quadriplegic at the age of 27, but at least his hilarious car driving chum will be back behind the wheel.
Another bridge strike - this time in the railway bridge in Machynlleth hit by a lorry on 1 September. The A487 and the railway line were both closed for several hours.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-58406885
The incident was mentioned in an article that also states that on the previous day (31 August) drivers crashed into 9 bridges in one day - in Romsey, Luton, Marston East, Earley, Ulverston, Redhill, Coton, Darlington and Cadwell.

Normally, posts in this thread are slightly comic. Damage to vehicle / stationary object, but everyone walks away. Normally.

"Notting Hill crash: Three dead after car hits block of flats and catches fire"
The article doesn't state whether the three deceased were occupants of the car or building, but either way it's tragic. RIP.
Pedestrianising Princess Victoria Street in Clifton, Bristol apparently caused a lorry to scrape a parked car. Also, it's a 'nightmare'! (I reckon that'll buff right out)
https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-news/nightmare-lorry-crashes-car-pedestrianised-5916809
Obviously it's the pedestrianisation that caused it, not the allowing parking on both sides of a narrow road.
The wind tunnel engineers at Ribble are going to blow secret lycra farts wide open.
(No buildings harmed, but this school boy nonsense just doesn't merit a fresh thread.)
Something of a first "...after a driver lost control".

I was seriously beginning to think that there was some press reporting legal guideline about not attributing any suspicion of blame to the driver of a crashed car.
However, on another story
https://www.cambridge-news.co.uk/news/cambridge-news/gallery/coldhams-la...
it's the usual all down to the car scenario.

Drug driver crashes into M6 Toll booth. The incident occurred in August 2020, the driver received a suspended prison sentence and has been disqualified from driving for three years. The video is not for the faint-hearted.

I'd much prefer it if the f*cker was named and shamed - if for no other reason than people could shop him if he drives while banned. Also compulsory 'black box' to be fitted to every vehicle he drives once/if he gets his license back.
Weather conditions seemed to be taking many Hampshire drivers by surprise on Saturday.

8pm on Monday evening a convertible (BMW I think) smashed into the front room of a bungalow on Princess Drive, a residential street in Bridgnorth, Shropshire. A 67 year old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of drink-driving. Some striking photographs of the damage.
