Bloody scary, especially at that speed.
Not sure if it is the norm in Spain but the rider did appear to be on the slip road rather than the main carriageway, as well as riding behind the the white line for the edge of the road prior to this.
If this had been the UK then anyone defending the driver would empahsis that they rider had indicated thier intention to take the exit with thier road position. Driver would have have been cleared, in fact probably never even charged.
Always make your intention clear to other road users.
After translation "The convicted person will not be imprisoned since he has no history or pending penalties and will not compensate the cyclist since Masano did not claim any type of damage", I'm guessing a form suspended sentence. There is always the not stopping at the scene to think about.
After various convictions of famous footballers for forgetting to pay tax I'm sure I read somewhere that anything under 2 years sentencing is always suspended in Spain.
As for the video, scary as fuck but he was over so much I would have thought he was turning off as well (although the speed was too stupid for the traffic in any aspect). If there are junctions I hate when cycling it is ones which allow cars to come off at speed like that. There is one on my commute home but luckily I follow it off rather then needing to go straight and in theory vehicles should only be doing 30.
Wow that's a bloody scary video!!
Mixed feelings for this, yes I'm pleased someone somewhere is being punished for that horror, but I'm not sure it's in the 'public interest' to lock up and 85 year old (maybe it is?) however the ban is welcome as long as that 87/88 year old has to 'take a driving test' to get their license re-instated.
