New for 2014. La'al Lakeland 100 and the Cumbrian 200. Two very scenic tours of the Lake District, out of the Lakes School, near Windermere. £5 for AUKs, £7 non-members. Entries via AUK website (see contact above).
The 100 is subject to a low minimum speed, so enjoy the scenery and have a café stop or two as you go round. Bring a camera - The Lakes is well known for its long days of warm sunshine in May. Wrynose, Hardknott, Birker Fell, Gummers How and Scout Scar. What's not to enjoy!
The 200 is a bit more of a challenge, but with about 4,000m of descent, it's sure to be enjoyable. North round the back of Skiddaw, then over Newlands (what amazing views!), Cold Fell, up Wasdale and back, Birker Fell, the rarely climbed (but always delightful) Kiln Bank, Coniston, Hawkshead and then back to base. Parking at the start, plus refreshments, all included.
It's an audax day out - so expect a lovingly crafted routesheet, but not much in the way of signage, timing tags, marshalls or sag wagons.
Carry your brevet card around the route and after successful completion of the ride it will be validated by AudaxUK. Old hands will clock up 2pts plus 4AAA, others will get a taste of what audax riding is all about. You never know, you could be riding P-B-P in 2015...
There's a band name in there somewhere... road10, that sounds good! "I'm Madone Ride Me"...
True - but are the Dutch of Rotterdam or Den Haag (both similar population) less lazy than Mancunians? They seem to cycle a lot of short trips?...

Each to their own but this looks like just another 4130 tubed 'fixie' road bike from that Brick Lane Bikes era. Even down to the horrible cheap...
The good: while the % budget share of the transport budget for active travel represents a remarkable thing in the UK...
Currently I wear normal undies, either synthetic or wool, which dry quickly and I stay comfy and clean all day. It was just the pad that made it...
Boring geometry, boring feel, press-fit, and Nine Thousand Pounds? That's a really dreadful outcome.

Just so. In addition:...
The problem here is there is a very suitable alternative that runs in the same direction as the road. They could easily have done more to reduce...
