I've always found that recovery drinks are great if you've got days of riding stacked together without much time for recovery in between and Myprotein Re:Charge is no different. If you're touring, taking part in a multi-stage sportive or racing on consecutive days the mix of protein and carbohydrates makes a noticeable difference to your recovery.
Each 100g of powder provides 55g of carbohydrates and 17g of protein, a near 3:1 ratio compared to the more common 4:1 carb/protein mix. Working with the protein you also get 5g of creatine monohydrate, plus if it's a warm workout you'll need the 1g of electrolytes to replace body salts and minerals lost in sweat.
The ideal window for taking the Re:Charge is as soon as you get off of the bike to replenish reserves and start the recovery process dealing with hydration, energy and muscle repair. Using it straight after a hard ride did make a lot of difference to how my legs felt later if I was doing a second session and more importantly the next morning with none of that heavy leg feeling.
Adding a 50g serving with 500ml of water was quick and mixed really well after a quick shake so there is no excuse to not bother. I did find it was best to have made up and sat in the fridge though as the bitter Orange flavour tastes more tolerable when really chilled.
For consecutive days riding, especially if they are long days, say six or seven hours drinking Re:Charge on the bike will benefit the next day's recovery as the protein can start doing its job on your muscles as you are riding.
Working out at 77p per serving it's not ludicrously expensive considering it is basically a carb and recovery drink all in one go. It comes available in a 1.5kg pouch only and the orange is the only flavour.
Overall the Re:Charge is an inexpensive option if you just want to have one sports nutrition product especially if you do a lot of long rides. Muscle tiredness was noticeably less when I was using it making for better rides back to back. I personally wasn't a massive fan of the flavour but it wasn't unpleasant though it is a shame there aren't more options.
Verdict
Jack of all trades nutrition product that replaces everything the body needs to get back on the bike

Re:Charge is a recovery drink to take straight after exercise so that the mixture of carbs, protein and electrolytes replenish your body's stores as soon as possible. It works great if you exercise twice a day making sure you are refueled for the next session.

Taken straight after a morning session I noticed less fatigue for an evening ride.
I wasn't a huge fan of the flavour but it does sit easily in the stomach.
77p per serving for an energy drink with recovery capabilities is good value.

Creatine… Mixed research for endurance… Maybe during a concerted strength phase. But for me it is of no benefit for endurance, however I am already heavily muscled and have the strength I require.
You are better eating a banana during/after a ride than drinking this.
Save your money…IMO

I started using this product this week. Like the reviewer, I have to use my commute for training, so between Tuesday evening & this (Thursday) morning, I’ve managed to cram in 4 tough sessions, and have been taking this after every ride. I’m feeling a lot fresher than I would normally at this stage of the week, which I don’t think is coincidence.
It tastes disgusting (very similar to Maximuscle’s Recovermax), but for me, the results speak for themselves.
