The Stolen Goat Men’s Voltage Grey MTB Jersey comes from the brand’s fresh MTB22 range. It fills the role of the short-sleeve top in the collection and represents a solid offering. It’s comfortable and fits well, though the fabric is a bit thick for the height of summer and you may need to consider sizing up.

This is the short-sleeve jersey in the range and, while its sleeves have been cut off, it gets all of the features found on its longer-sleeved sibling. Those include a 100% polyester build, a casual and loose fit, and handy UV protection to an SPF of 30.

At first, I was sent a medium (my usual size), which fitted well apart from the chest and armpit area. It was long enough and comfortable elsewhere, just tight in the aforementioned areas. I then sized up to a large and all of those issues were gone, enhancing comfort in places where it may have been choked a bit. Before you buy, be sure to check the size guide.

So with the new size, comfort is spot on but Stolen Goat has built the jersey for ‘warm’ conditions on the brand’s scale of temperature. As such, it’s built with a thicker fabric than what’s usually found on jerseys (and the same fabric found on the brand’s long-sleeve items) and because of this, I’ve found it to get rather hot under the collar. Generally, when I choose to wear a short-sleeve jersey, it’s to remain as cool as I can. This jersey doesn’t quite do that. What it does do well, however, is wick moisture.

If you want a jersey that’ll keep you a touch warmer on slightly chillier days, and you value short sleeves, this will be the jersey for you. For me, if it’s cooler, I would opt for a long sleeve.

As for value, Stolen Goat has done pretty well here. £40 brings this short-sleeve jersey into competition with the likes of Nukeproof and the Blackline jersey that costs £55. Though, the Blackline is much better suited to warmer weather.

PNW Component’s Ozone Jersey is a very serious contender at just north of £41. Its merino-blended fabric and incredibly casual design make it very comfortable, though it struggles to wick moisture and gets very sweaty, something that Stolen Goat’s jersey copes with better. It’s much more inconspicuously styled, too.

If you’re one for loud designs, short-sleeve jerseys that’ll keep you warmer in cooler temperatures, and a bit of UV protection, Stolen Goat’s Men’s Voltage Grey MTB Jersey is comfortable and well fitting. It can just get a bit too warm when the temperatures rise and make sure to double-check the size chart before you buy.
