When Avinox unveiled its uber-powerful M2S and MS motors, 60 brands came in tow, releasing their bikes equipped with those systems. YT Industries was one of them with its Decoy X, and now, the brand has expanded its Avinox-powered e-mountain bike range to include four new Decoy X models, and prices start at £4,499.
These four new models will run alongside the very posh, Fox Podium-equipped Decoy X Launch Edition, and with that, the new bikes don’t stray too far from that flagship platform. The new models boast 160mm of rear travel combined with 170mm at the front as well as a mixed wheel size. That’s all bolted onto a hydroformed aluminium frame.
Of course, there’s then the Avinox M2S that’s found across the range. It needs no introduction, but if you’ve found yourself under a rock for the past few months, it’s a bit of a beast. It produces a serious 150Nm of torque and is powered by an 800Wh battery on all frame sizes. Though the Decoy X outputs up to 1300W of power, unlike the 1500W you might find on bikes like the Amflow PX Carbon Pro.

All models benefit from YT’s advanced cable management system that secures the hoses and cables to prevent rattling, and there’s a neat tool found in the rear axle. Of course, as any modern mountain bike should, it gets a UDH, or Universal Derailleur Hanger, fitment.
A mainstay of the brand’s bikes, the Virtual Four Link suspension layout, is present on the Decoy X models, which promises a sensitive start of the stroke, support towards the midstroke and a ramp up towards the end to stave off harsh bottom outs. There’s also a geometry-adjusting flip chip.
Onto the geometry, the Decoy X in a large size dons a 472mm reach, and across the size range, you’ll find a 63.9-degree head tube angle, a 78.1-degree effective seat tube angle and a 443mm chainstay. That flip chip then steepens the angles by two degrees at the seat angle, and three degrees at the head angle, while lengthening the reach a touch, amongst other things.
Models and prices
Of course, the big news here is that there are now four Decoy X models to choose from, excluding the Launch Edition bike, which will still be available. Starting with the Core 1, it’s the base model build that uses Marzocchi’s Bomber Z1 fork and Bomber Air shock. There’s then an E13 Helix Core e*spec crank turning SRAM’s S100 Eagle drivetrain. The brakes are also provided by SRAM in the form of its DB8 stealths, and the WTB Sportterra Tough wheels are wrapped with Continental’s Kyrptotal FR and RE combo in the Enduro casing and Super Soft compound at the front, and the Downhill casing and Soft compound at the rear. So despite this being the most affordable model, it boasts some serious rubber.

The Decoy X Core 2 ups the ante with suspension from Fox with the 38 Performance fork and a Fox DHX Performance coil shock with size-specific springs. This bike uses SRAM’s Eagle 70 Transmission, SRAM Maven Base brakes, DT Swiss H 1900 370 LN wheels and the same tyre setup as the Core 1.
Core 3 levels things up with RockShox’s latest ZEB Ultimate fork and Vivid Ultimate shock. It also gets a SRAM Eagle 90 Transmission, SRAM Maven Silver brakes as well as DT Swiss HQ 1700 wheels. Yep, it gets the very same tyres as the rest of the range.
Last but not least, the Core 4 is the ‘pro spec’ bike that benefits from a Fox 38 fork and X2 shock in their Kashima-coated Factory guises. There’s then SRAM’s S1000 Eagle Transmission providing wireless shifting. This bike rolls on DT Swiss HX 1500 240 wheels and the same Continental tyres.
Prices for the range start at £4,499 and go up to £7,599 for the Core 4 build.
