off.road.cc’s Managing Editor, Liam, is all about everything off-road cycling. Whether it’s riding enduro e-mountain bikes as quickly as his skills would allow, or more chilled gravel expeditions, if it’s on two wheels and on dirt, he’s happy. While he loves an aggressive trail mountain bike, he has a penchant for anything steel or with exotic frame materials. When not riding bikes, he’s tinkering with them to learn the ins and outs of what makes everything tick. He’s been contributing to the site for over six years now, and has worked his way up from freelancer to Staff Writer and Tech Editor to where he finds himself today, with hundreds of reviews of mountain and gravel bikes, and all kinds of parts and accessories under his belt.

@Xenophon2 To be fair, anything that requires more than one type of tool and/or prior knowledge of the construction method to defeat does increase the security, even if it would be easy to defeat with the right tools and know-how. On the other hand, when their own test video shows it can be cut in 24 seconds with an angle grinder, I suspect thieves will be quite happy just doing that.

@Aluminium can The kit really is a minor influence compared to the influence of massive blocks of altitude training (more or less legally mimicking the effect of blood doping/EPO) and scientific advances in nutrition. Riders can now absorb 120g of carbs per hour when previously most could only manage 60g, doubling the amount of fuel on board, no wonder they can go harder and faster for longer. It was also revealed on commentary that a lab in Australia has found a way of encapsulating lactose (which dramatically reduces the effects of lactic acid buildup) so that riders can take 5g per hour when before they could only absorb 0.5g, with any excess causing severe gastric problems. All perfectly legal but currently in very limited supply, apparently one team has purchased the whole of the initial production run; no official confirmation but no prizes for guessing which team that might be.

I admit I don't like to see TDS (total dissolved solids) in excess of 2500 ppm in boiler water samples, as it can lead to scaling and cracked heating tubes as well as damage to the tube plate. In such cases I would recommend a slightly increased blowdown rate.

Excellent. Trikes such as these give mobility options to those who are unable to drive and where a bicycle is not suitable. I think they’re great.

Excellent. Modern dynamos paired with LED lights are brilliant for commuting and for me often riding on unlit roads or canal towpaths are a must. I would imagine that it would be pretty easy to change the front light to something more powerful that uses the same power output. Thanks for the review.

A lot of factors in combination could explain the speed increase. Better equipment, better nutrition, better training (including more gym work), newly surfaced smooth roads, more strength in depth in the peleton, shorter stages and this year there seemed to be a lot of wind assisted stages.

Apart from making wearers look like a 1990s sitcom nanny, the leopard pattern makes it very difficult for the leopard's prey to judge the distance to the leopard. This is great if you're a leopard and your prey thinks you're too far away to worry about. Less great if you're a cyclist wearing leopard print and there are drivers around. Look how confusing the left arm of the female cyclist is... you have to look at the un-camouflaged hand to see where it is. It's genuinely hard to tell which cyclist is in front - the female or the male to her left.

Id point fingers at Akaso and say it does matter because at the end of the day. its false advertising unless Akaso has stated that the footage is upscaled on the packaging. Ive been around action cameras since the days when the SJCAM SJ4000 was the budget king of action cameras followed by the hundreds of clones that used the same camera body but cheap components that upmixed 720p into 1080p or 1080p into 4k. Akaso was a manufacturer that ALWAYS did this without fail with the Allwinner Chipset which was all the rage for these fake 1080p/4k cameras back then. When i saw the title and the brand 'Akaso' I instantly said to myself "I bet its not even 4k" 5mins before actually clicking on the video footage and seeing it for the first time. The footage doesnt even look like 1080p. There is too much noise. If it is 1080p then they are using a super cheap low quality CMOS camera sensor that all the old action cameras used to use back in the day some 10-15 years ago. And they want you to buy a product that probably cost them £20-30 to manufacture for £200 when they are blatantly lying to your face about the camera's capabilities? I wouldnt waste my money on this.
