If you’re still searching for the perfect Christmas gift for a cyclist then the new Eddy Vinyl Figure could be it.
It’s been designed by top illustrator Richard Mitchelson, he who was responsible for the Rouleur mugs which featured portraits of Merckx, Millar, Fignon, Lemond, Simpson, Hinault and Pantani.

So which Eddy is this? Given the obvious resemblance (allowing for the fact that it's a couple of inches high moulded plastic figure) and that he's wearing a Molteni top you'd be forgiven for thinking it must be Eddy Merckx… but there's no mention of the "M" word anywhere on the accompanying publicity info or packaging. Could it be it has not been officially endorsed by Mr M?
The vinyl figure is 6in tall and comes in a presentation box. It costs £35 and is available to pre-order now.
We think it’s a cool product and are hoping to find one under our Christmas tree.

Gawd. When I see things like this I always imagine the long line of puzzled factory workers in China – who could be making solar panels and the like – on an 18 hour shift painting eyebrows on plastic dolls of Eddy Merckx to sell at £35 a pop to decadent westerners so they can put them on a shelf to show they like cycling and collecting ironic dolls.
