Shutt Velo Rapide issues last call for Christmas ordering
Yorkshire-based brand also unveils three new partnerships for 2011
We know that many road.cc users are big fans of Shutt Velo Rapide clothing, but if you’ve been dropping hints to your nearest and dearest that something from the brand should feature on your Christmas list, it may well be worth dropping another one to the effect that today is the last day you can order from the company to ensure delivery before Christmas.
Obviously, there’s less of a hint needed for those of you planning on self-gifting one of its items, but if that is that case, you should still get your skates on and head over to the Shutt VR website and get ordering.
Given the white stuff covering much of the country, delivery is weather-dependent, so if you are in part of the country particularly badly affected by the snow you might want to check in advance with the company that delivery will be possible in time for Christmas.
Meanwhile, the Yorkshire-based brand has announced some interesting developments for 2011 including tie-ups with Polocini Cyclosportives and Swiss clthing brand Cervo Rosso, as well as kitting out Aston Martin racing drivers through a partnership with the historic British marque’s owner, Banbury-based motor racing company Prodrive.
The latter initiative falls within Prodrive’s Driver Performance programme, which seeks to ensure that drivers are in peak condition when they get behind the wheel for a race, with cycling playing a big part in their conditioning training.
Peter Webster, Driver Performance Manager at Prodive, commented: “Shutt’s clever use of Merino wool has kept us toasty (and odour free which is always a bonus) for many miles in the saddle. Driver Performance is proud to say we are now using the cycling specific Shutt range to keep us warm and comfortable whenever we venture out onto the icy roads – bring on the summer when we can try out the shorts and T-shirts.”
Meanwhile, the company has announced a partnership with Swiss cycle clothing brand Cervo Rosso, resulting in “a collection of cycle wear that beautifully captures the bygone era of European cycling.”
Cervo Rosso’s Founder and CEO Carlyle Ware said “This is a very exciting time for us and we are exceptionally proud of the collection we will launch.”
Explaining the reasons behind the decision to enter what is a highly competitive market, he added : “At Cervo Rosso our passion is road cycling and respecting the heritage, values and future directions of the sport... every Cervo Rosso product is put into the hands of professional riders past and present, where performance and durability are tested to the limit.”
The brand’s online store has been launched this week, and it will also be sold through bike shops in Switzerland, Belgium and Australia. Full details can be found on the Cervo Rosso website, which also contains a new one on us, clothing aimed at cycling fans rather than riders - the Murr Spectator Vest, billed as "The most luxurious way to stay warm at Flanders this year."
Finally the company has also announced a partnership with north west England-based sportive organiser Policini Cyclosportives, whose next event on March 6 is the Winter Sprinter in Cheshire (although obviously despite the name we’ll all be hoping that the snow is long gone by then).
According to Shutt VR, “Riding our bikes and getting others on theirs is pretty high up on our agenda so we are very excited to announce our support for Polocini Cyclosportives in 2011. With a range of events for riders of all abilities Polocini offer high quality affordable sportives. We are especially looking forward to their 'Kegs and Legs' event. A sportive with added beer festival! Keep an eye on the clubroom for special entry offers and event updates. There may even be a special Polocini jersey...”
