Hip-hop star Snoop Dogg has given a bizarre good luck message to Lance Armstrong ahead of what we now know will be the Team RadioShack rider’s final Tour de France.

In a brief video on YouTube, against a graphic of the Arc de Triomphe, the West Coast rapper tells Armstrong “I need to borrow that bike for a minute, man, I gotta do a few tricks down the street, you understand me?” – we think we do – although we’re a bit lost at his other request that a friend borrow “that Speedo suit you been wearing” for purposes that, perhaps mercifully, remain unexplained.

Dogg – born Cordozar Calvin Broadus – finishes his message with the words “Good luck in that tour, neffew!” shown on screen.

While the rapper is unlikely to be at Saturday’s Grand Départ in Rotterdam – he had been due to perform at a festival in the Netherlands last weekend before being uninvited by the organisers due to the perception he was a bad role model, a curious state of affairs given that the country is one of the few where marijuana can be bought and smoked openly, with Snoop known to enjoy the odd smoke himself – he is performing in Brussels this Sunday, the same day that Stage 1 of the race finishes there.

Perhaps he’ll be able to get his hands on that skinsuit and bike after all – although he might be well advised to give doping control a pretty wide berth.
