The PRO Discover Stem 10 can be used either as a standalone component or paired with the Discover Aero Carbon handlebar, offering a more or less aggressive setup depending on your preference. When combined with a compatible handlebar, it also offers features that can help tidy up cable routing.

PRO Discover Stem 10 – Technical Details

While the Discover 10 stem is compatible with any standard handlebar featuring a 1-1/8” steerer and 31.8mm clamp diameter, certain design details are tailored to work best with other components in the Discover range—most notably the Discover Aero Carbon handlebar, which I used during testing.

Made from 7075 aluminium, the stem has a 10-degree angle, which is slightly more than some alternatives, where 6 to 8 degrees is more typical. It’s reversible, so it’s not solely intended to create a more aggressive position.

It’s available in a broad range of lengths, from 70mm to 110mm. The claimed weight for the shortest 70mm version is 146g, while the 100mm unit tested came in at 157g, a modest increase considering the additional length, assuming the claimed figure is accurate. The stack height on the version we have on test is 41mm, and this will be the same across all sizes.

PRO Discover Stem 10 – Performance

Fitting the Discover 10 stem is straightforward, using T25 bolts with a recommended torque setting of 5Nm clearly printed on the stem itself. The faceplate is designed to fully cover the top section, which not only provides a cleaner look but may also help to reduce water ingress. Clear instructions on the faceplate indicate that the upper bolts should be tightened to close the top gap.

The lower section of the faceplate features a deliberate gap, which allows internal cables, routed through a compatible handlebar, to exit cleanly. This enables neater, more direct cable routing and supports full integration for framesets designed with internal routing in mind.

The main body has a squared-off profile and a 10-degree angle, which is deeper than average; most stems typically feature a 6-degree angle. While it can be flipped to provide a positive rise, doing so inverts the logo, making it clear the design is primarily intended for a more aggressive setup.

Throughout testing, the stem has performed without issue, with no noticeable flex or increase in vibration, though it’s worth noting I’m not exactly putting out sprinter-level power, and nor is it designed for that.

PRO Discover Stem 10 – Verdict

As a standalone product, the PRO Discover 10 stem is a tough sell at £100, as it doesn’t offer any standout features to justify the premium price. Its true value emerges when paired with the Discover Aero Carbon handlebar—or any bar with similar internal routing and a cable exit beneath the stem—enabling a neater setup on bikes that don’t have fully internal cable routing.

It’s also a strong option for riders seeking a more aggressive position, thanks to its 10-degree drop, more than the common 6 degrees, and without jumping straight to the much steeper 17 or 18 degrees. That said, there’s stiff competition. Giant’s Contact Aerolight stem offers a similar profile and range of lengths at just £35, and the Deda Zero2 is both lighter and more affordable at £50.

Overall, the PRO Discover 10 stem delivers flawless performance and will appeal to those looking to fine-tune fit or optimise cable routing with compatible components. But for those simply in need of a reliable, basic stem, it’s hard to justify the cost.
