Using a 53% polyester to 47% merino wool knit, the fabric has the advantage of polyester’s durable nature but with the effective breathing, sweat-wicking and low odour effectiveness of Merino. The fabric is really smooth and less ‘wool’ like – which may be positive for riders who don’t get on with pure merino.

The cut is a simple but thoughtful cut that makes the jersey feel unobtrusive and with the flatlock seams, you barely notice it’s there. There are snap close collar buttons that are low profile and almost unnoticeable. These work well but could be a fiddle to close at times with gloves on. They are easy to open and just pop apart when pulled. The rear is cut slightly lower, and the length is plenty if you feel inclined to tuck jerseys in. 

There are multiple panels for the arms, which make the on bike fit good, and the slightly ribbed finish to the fabric is what helps with the wicking and also warmth, trapping air when still with a layer over the top but still allowing moisture to evaporate out.

I’ve ridden mountain bike loops with it, gravel type rides, and some off-road overnight adventure trips. Its real plus point is that it looks good on and off the bike, which is handy for post ride pints, or by the campfire and that it doesn’t smell after a day like a pure polyester jersey can. It feels fresher the next day, and also even cool hand washed, dries really quickly if you need to rinse it out.

The merino gives it effective heat regulation, partly due to the weight of the fabric being not too thick as well. I slept in mine which was comfortable inside a three-season bag in low temperatures – it was definitely less smelly than a regular jersey. Riding in warmer weather, the more casual cut is good for ventilation and despite its lightish weight, there is a good amount of sun protection in the fabric.

The jersey is detailed with three embroidered logos, which are all placed in areas where they show off. The only slight downside is the cost, but as with most premium clothing, its quality and detailing make it worth the investment. It’s not unreasonably pricey, but of course, there are cheaper options available. Colourway options are grey, dark grey and blue.
