Canyon has been rapidly expanding its offering away from mountain bikes with the recent Disruptr helmet and Tempr CFR road shoes. Now, the brand has stepped into the world of off-road cycling footwear with the Scampr, a shoe designed for all things knobbly tyred.

Canyon’s new Scampr shoes trade all-out weight savings for all-day comfort over a variety of terrains, and walkability. To do so, the brand has employed Carl Bird and Eric Horton of FORM8ION to work with its own design team to combine Boa, Solestar and Vibram technologies.

Boa’s Li2, of course, works as the retention system but the shoes also benefit from the Boa PerformFit Wrap which is said to control the instep and lock-in the heel. It’s also built to eliminate unnecessary movement of the shoe and foot to ensure efficient power transfer to the pedals. The Scampr then uses Canyon’s own PureFit360 foot form and shoe last.

Solestar provides contoured footbeds to boost support and stability, while Vibram’s Megagrip sole provides traction.

Rather than a traditional construction, the Scampr is built with a bootie-like upper with a Stretch Tongue. Canyon claims this helps with comfort and adaptability, so it should fit a range of foot shapes. The upper uses a breathable mesh for cooling and moisture transfer.
