Back in 2022, the overhauled Canyon Spectral:ON set the stage for the brand’s next generation of e-mountain bikes. For 2023, the company has built upon its much-loved foundations, giving it a bigger fork and the latest motor tech from Shimano.

The biggest change with the new iteration is the introduction of a 160mm travel fork. Not only has this tweak been made with the aim of making the bike more capable, but it’s slackened the head angle by half a degree, which should mean good things for all-out stability.

It also sports Shimano’s newest EP801 motor that offers an increased peak power of 600 watts. It can be paired with Canyon’s brand-new companion app that allows GPS tracking and alarm notifications to name a few.

The latest line of Spectral:ON e-MTBs is available with three models and the Spectral:ON CFR LTD tops the lot with SRAM’s new XX AXS shifting, a RockShox Lyrik Ultimate fork, and a Super Deluxe Ultra shock, both ofwhich benefit from Flight Attendant tech.

Next in the range is the Spectral:ON CFR that gets the same high-end frame as the LTD build but rocks Fox suspension and Shimano wireless shifting. The CF 8 bike is a little heavier but it brings the value, coming kitted with Fox suspension, Shimano cabled shifting and DT Swiss wheels.

Finally, the base CF 7 model gets much of the same that’s seen on the CF 8 but comes with RockShox suspension and a Shimano groupset. It does get the same motor and battery as the flagship bike.
