Wiggins Rouen Junior Bike tyre clearance

My daughter has surprised me and said she wants a drop handlebar bike next. Have been taking a look round and there is an offer on the Wiggins Rouen on ebay at the moment, which might fit with the budget. Has anyone got one and fitted wider tyres than the supplied 23mm Kendas? Or can tell me if there is clearance to fit them?

I asked on the Halfords chat but the bot said they don't recommend anything wider. Seems a bit narrow for a child's bike. I don't want to put her off with a bone shaking experience.

She is eleven, just over 1.5m, so thinking the smaller framed 700c. Will go and have a look with her, she might find the drops too weird anyway, having been used to flat handlebars. Then again children are adaptable creatures. Thanks

Happened to pop by my local Halfords on the way home today - they didn't have them in stock so I couldn't check clearances. Might be worth checking they've actually got them before paying a visit - they had nothing other than BSOs for kids although there were some Boardmans with what looked like very tiny frames so maybe 650B...

540 / 650 / 700c depending on the size of the bike...

Ooh good point, think the bigger of the 2 is a 700c wheel...

What size wheels are they? 24s? If so check whether they're 507 or 520 rims because there's quite a difference in tyre availability. 507 is a mountain bike size so you'll get wider tyres but that's less the case with 520s.

They would deginitely take a 25, probably a 28 from when i had a glance.

They probably have some on display in your local Halfords...
