Established in 2015 by Renewable World, Earth Wind & Tyre is an epic 200-mile charity cycle challenge taking place over two days. The bespoke route starts in Durham and ends in Edinburgh, passing ten onshore wind farms along the way. The scenic ride goes through Northumberland, the Scottish Borders and East Lothian before reaching the finishing line on the iconic Royal Mile in Edinburgh.
Our well-stocked feed stations for riders to recharge and grab a flapjack (or two), combined with the overnight stay at the half-way point of Kielder Water and the celebratory post-race gathering in Edinburgh, make for a weekend of cycling camaraderie and memories to keep long after your aching muscles have recovered! With leg-testing climbs and euphoric views and descents all the way to Edinburgh, it’s a truly spectacular event for all involved.
Fundraising is an integral part of the event, and cyclists are asked to commit to a minimum fundraising target on behalf of Renewable World. Last year, 47 riders raised £54,000 for Renewable World’s work, bringing renewable energy systems to remote communities in developing nations. The proceeds of the ride will go directly towards Renewable World’s projects, providing some of the world’s most vulnerable communities with a long-term route out of poverty.
The route covers approximately 100 miles per day.
£99 registration fee includes:

Overnight accommodation in Kielder Water
