Do you just have a remote

Do you just have a remote camera set up at those lights, wtjs?

I could probably set one up in the hedge and trigger from over the road, but it wouldn’t solve the problem of Lancashire Constabulary coming to bent agreements with the offenders to ignore the case! As a reward for tongue-in-cheek questioning:

    They reasoned that the

They reasoned that the greatest benefit would be a driver’s improvement course, rather than points

Bollocks!- just like the joke online driving course which she does from home if Essex is like Lancashire. They will use any excuse they think they can get away with in order to avoid any effort. It wouldn’t have been any different if they had video proving that the light was red, they would just have changed the excuse to ‘she was distracted by something, something’ or another obvious fiction. The police are accustomed to rejecting any evidence they don’t like- such as these witness statements, but if there was just one witness saying the light was green when she crossed the line they would accept it as gospel and issue the standard monumentally insincere ‘our thoughts are with…’

When the police and the driver’s legal team are working together to get the driver off, justice has had it! I have shown this before, but Audi Q5 T90 JDT towing a large caravan at 50+ mph was way behind me when these lights turned red but still hammered across anyway. How much more illegal can you get?The police couldn’t dispute this so they went for the default plan: NFA by not responding at all and then refusing to tell me what the outcome was (although I knew, obviously, as I know LC’s methods well by now) for over 7 months and then claiming they were too busy to look at online incident reports

Thanks MtB. Hunt is my top choice at the moment if the re-rimming of the wheel isn’t possible or doesn’t work.

I can’t be bothered with the aggravation of contacting Chain Reaction only to be told I’ve ruined it by cycling on rough roads. This ultra-crap replacement (no doubt Chain Reaction were elated at having taught me a lesson- they have) has only 28 spokes, whereas the crap original had 32. I’m told there is difficulty obtaining 28 hole rims, or ones with eyelets, but I’m awaiting news. In view of the apparently good hub, I’m going to have a decent rim put on if I can. Front wheel still OK, so it’s worth putting off having to buy a supposedly ‘good’ pair. All the wheels reviewed on here seem to be made with non-eyelet rims.

I doubt this wheel will last

I doubt this wheel will last even the 18 months of its predecessor

I was right. Rim now knackered in the same way. You wonder why it’s worth building wheels as badly- all those decades of cycling and nothing like this! There are several cracks appearing at drive side spoke holes- clearly El-Cheapo wheel building machines just winch up tension on drive side spokes where the increased tension has less true-ing effect. Hub seems good, so I’ll see if anybody makes decent replacement rims these days

    Don’t forget the rather

Don’t forget the rather better option of letting Google do a better job more quickly than the official site search:

google road.cc: <whatever text you’re looking for> those brackets not necessary

Crikey! Is that how much they charge for 10 minutes work?

This may all be very well,

This may all be very well, but the assorted ‘2 O levels or less’ Cro-Magnons down at The Filth will pay no attention to it, even when the cessation of the data stream confirms that you’re dead because the BMW/ Audi driver just ran straight into you at 45 mph with 0 ‘slowdown amount’, and will just bin the whole lot as ‘insufficient evidence’ in order to quickly get back to the station for ‘do-nuts’. HY66 ZZB was doing 45, had allowed his plate to become so filthy that ANPR has no chance and his tax ran out on 4.6.19. I bet his MOT is bent as well. Lancashire Constabulary will do absolutely nothing about it.

    Still the story continues

Still the story continues though. I ordered the bike with a 11-34T cassette as I live in a hilly city and I am used to lower gears

This rings true! When things are not ideal or bad, they tend to stay that way. When I had a failed wheel with a collapsing rim, they eventually sent the replacement with a CentreLock hub and no adapter for the 6-bolt disc (which I had carefully removed because I knew nobody would bother to ensure a disc came with the new wheel). However, they did send an adapter promptly when I complained. They did get the last laugh, though, as the replacement rim was even more crap than the original despite having a rather good hub- this rim is now knackered after only 6 months from riding on rough tracks , not unreasonable use as it was sold as a gravel bike.

I had several oncoming drivers waiting for me

I’m very pleased to hear of this positive change! It certainly doesn’t apply up here, so I suppose it depends on the drivers knowing that they do or don’t live in an area with a police force that detests cyclists for being whingers who can’t even be bothered to get killed or injured before they start moaning

there is a level of social

there is a level of social proof that reinforces the perception that appalling driving standards that put cyclists in danger is not only normal but it’s funny

Unfortunately, you’re describing the police. This perception and consequent belittling of offences against cycling is much more common than the behaviours recently publicised in the Met: having yourself photographed by murder victims, sexist abuse back at the station, raping and murdering people etc.

    In Lancashire there has been
In Lancashire there has been no change because drivers here know that Lancashire Constabulary has no record of paying attention to the old Highway Code, never mind any pinko Namby Pamby so-called Rule Changes which they don’t accept

    All this cheers me up

All this cheers me up immensely, from my smug heights of someone with a £650 gravel bike (OK, so the wheels were crap, and the replacement rear is failing now, but I’m going to get – probably- some Hunt alloys) with the superb TRP Spyre mechanical disc brakes so I can just hammer downhill in the rain chasing a Stagecoach bandit knowing that I can stop when he brakes. Nondescript cheap brake pads last a year and are dead easy to replace. Joy!
