Andreas Schillinger, Jonas Koch, Tim Declerque, Stefan Küng , Jasper de Buyst, Frederkik Frison e Nikolas Maes, Maarten Wynants , Nils Politt e Mads Wurtz Schimdt, Mads Pedersen, Kenneth van Blissen e Vicente García de Mateos.
Surprised to see Demare DNS giving up the points jersey.

Not a bad result for me.
Not a bad result for me.
Maybe should have brought another sprinter in rather than Moscon.
Pretty good result for my purist where I have De Plus. Hopefully he can hang on in the mountains.
Amazed that Walscheid managed to hang on to the finish. He could take the leaders jersey with a top3 tomorrow.

Dr Winston wrote:I spent an entire season last year front loading races with my transfers and then kinda clinging on. In the Algarve game i tried to do it the other way around but was somewhat scuppered by happenstance….namely EBH and Konrad…but the plan was sound…Giving it another go for this one. A thinner day than i could have had for today though maybe.Yeah. Mezgec is brilliant. Good rider and under used.
Keeping transfers until later is a good tactic.
I’ve made a bit of a commitment to GC with my choices for the TTT. Hopefully Roglic, Kelderman & Moscon can perform on the climbs. (Kelderman is usually a disaster when I pick him).
I’m very interested to see what happens between Moscon & Kwiatowski. They are joint leaders for Sky and I’m not sure how that will work out.

Dr Winston wrote:Planning not to use a transfer until day 3.My dither was Ewan and Halvorsen or Gaviria and Mezgec…went for the former…not even sure why.
How does Evenepoel even fit in ?…two sprinters or is he in the train somewhere ?
I’m not planning any transfers until stage 3 either, I’ll take a hit on Stage2 as my sprinters are a bit limited.
Evenepoel has a free role to go for it on the Mountain stages.
Gaviria was ill in Columbia and doesn’t know his lead out train at all, so Ewan is probably a sfer pick.
Mezgec is very good at posioning and usually does well when he sprints for himself. Halvorsen may get a few pints today but is inconsistent in the sprints. Maybe he should use Mezgec as a lead out :).
Stage 4 at Hatta Dam could be a critical one, usually sprinters do OK but this year there are a lot of talented climbers here. Getting around the climbers and maintaining pace could be a problem for sprinters.

Demare wasn’t far off.
So what to think for tomorrow ?
It wouldn’t surprise me if someone from the break wins tomorrow. But who ?
Valgren, Spilak, Cummings, Kung, Pollit ?
Demare even.
3 transfers left what to do ?

Jakobsen without his main
Jakobsen without his main lead out man. Martinelli DNS 🙁

I did think about bringing Demare in for the ITT but I’m not sure he will do much today.
That probably guarantees a win for him today.
I was too late to do anything about EBH not starting so like many people I drew a blank with him.
3 sprinters in for today –
JAKOBSEN
POELS
GROENEWEGEN
ANDERSEN S.K.
PHILIPSEN
POGACAR
ANTUNES
DE LA CRUZNot my ideal sprinter picks, I would have liked Ackermann but a few pennies short.
Hopefully Philipsen gets led out by Consonni today and not the other way around.
3 transfers left for tomorrow.
Mountain Renegade looking threatening , he had Groenewegen & Jakobsen in his team for yesterday’s ITT.

MinardiM189 wrote:Seven stages and only 12 transfers?Isn’t that a bit low?
The number of transfer in te last two races confused me.
I’m happy to stick with the old rule, 2 transfers between stages.
I think increasing the number of transfers makes the game less challenging.

Dr Winston wrote:Jeez…am I in time..,.Just seen a snippet that EBH isn’t starting…hope you all saw it…No idea if it’s confirmed or not.
I suspected that might happen but haven’t seen anything online to confirm it.
So he is still in my team for today.
I just saw his name is still on the starting times which was just published although he might not take the start.
UPDATE
Now confirmed Basson Hagen is ill and will not start today’s stage :(.

What to do tomorrow ?
What to do tomorrow ?
A bit worried about EBH he came in 2nd last 27 minutes down. Did he get injured in the crash yesterday or was he saving himself for the ITT tomorrow.
Do I make 1 transfer for tomorrow or wait and see what happens?
DLC or not DLC ? That is the question.
He was pretty poor in the ITT in Valenciana
It will be interesting to see how Pogacar does in the ITT.

Bonifazio doing a disgraceful move on Bouhanni. Took them both out of contention

Dr Winston wrote:Well done Minardi…first win of the season…On another day and with a bit of luck you could have done the double.Thanks.
After cocking up on Stage4 I was never going to win the standard competition. At the end of the day I was lucky to stay in the top 10.
I’ve had that happen before, lots of transfers for the last stage and I lose out. All the riders I bring in mess up and people who had no transfers beat me becuase they have to keep the GC guys.
Looks like the same happened to Tony, really strong sprinters team but they all messed up.
