    I expected Alaphilippe to

I expected Alaphilippe to keep his jersey today but not like that.

    Can he hang on tomorrow?

The final climb should be way too hard for him.

Underperformance from Yates, while Uran & Porte are looking good.

Turning out to be a fantastic TdF.

Every Tour I tell myself to avoid gambling on TTs, and every Tour I can’t resist it. This has to be the nadir though…

Van Aert – crashed when 2nd

    Schachmann – crashed when 4th

    Kung – crashed when 4th

    Thomas could be in trouble…

(Admittedly also had De Gendt and Haga – could’ve been so good though…)

Instead I was too cautious, looked at bringing Porte in but decided to save the transfer.

Tony Martin having a total day off…..only question now is will he fit a cafe stop in at some point.

    Team orders I hear.

I got in Lampaert instead of Asgreen….fml. I do have Andrerson, Haga, Thomas, Van Aert though.

Only made 2 changes for the ITT.

Brought in Van Aert & Lampaert. angry

Shame for Van Aert, it looks like his TdF is over, hope it isn’t anything more serious.

I did consider bringing in De Gendt for yesterday but decided he would take it easy in the ITT.

Wellens has to go on the break again tomorrow …Ciccone obviously set out for KOM but won’t be allowed any slack now that he’s in yellow…so Wellens needs to make hay doesn’t he?…

If the sun shines Wellens will struggle to make much hay, he really suffers in hot weather.

The HC climbs will determine who wins the KoM jersey, they are all over 2000m and score double points, 40 pts compared to 10 for a Cat1.

Ciccone seems to be a bit greedy, he wanted all the KoM points and the stage win. Could he have beaten Teuns if he had saved energy?

Four in four out for me and negligible return for it. probably done for me,  good job I am travelling abroad the last week and won’t be following so closely anyway…….(makes his excuse and hastily retreats)

Off to France for a week tomorrow so I won’t be following closely either.

Need to do well to bring my season back on track.

Ah god damn it, for some random reason the last 3 scorers were missed for the sprint, and you’re right Trek were given the assist points. I had in my head Ciccone had won (even though I watched it), probably the stress of the update not working properly.

Fixing now. Also, it seems Hitman was able to get stage 6 through. I’ll have another go with stage 5 later.

    Thanks Andy

5 threats to GC in the break

5 threats to GC in the break

Ciccone, Meurisse, Teuns, Pollitt & Bernard.

Interesting to see if Ciccone is going for KoM or the stage.

All the sprint points taken up by the break.

    Hi

I’m having issues too – leagues not showing points, no badges, can’t see other teams points…

The results from yesterday have failed to update, as a result the leagues, etc. are not currently available.

How many transfers for a single summit finish? Key question for tomorrow. My race is going OK, except got the TTT which didn’t go well. Doubled down on MIS which turned out to be a mistake.

Tomorrow may not be straight forward. A lot of very good riders throwing time away already may prove to be a problem for us with a decent sized, and talented, breakaway.  Our worst nightmare is to throw transfers at it only to watch a 20 man break ride up the road with the points. Alaphillipe complicates matters as well…

Agreed, anything can happen on this stage.

Not worth risking transfers with a sprint stage tomorrow.

    Trentin, Alaphilippe, Teunissen, Bettiol out.

He didn’t only came 3rd but it was still bad mistake taking him out. Saved a transfer in the long run but costing me 34 points so far.no

Brought in Alaphilippe & Wellens for today, good result for me but could have been so much better.

Only bought Ewan and Groenwagen in. couln’t bring myself to replace Alaphilippe with Viviani. kicking myself now.

Yesterday evening I had only brought in Viviani & Ewan for Alaphilippe & Bettiol.

I wish I hadn’t tinkered this morning, 14 points lost by swapping out Teunissen & Trentin.

Not sure what we are going to get tomorrow.
