Away for the weekend and forgot to enter a team.
A lot of catching up to do.

I would be up from Tour of
I would be up from Tour of Oman.
But it doesn’t look like many others have much interest?

A very interesting race.
A very interesting race.
I thought the course looked more puncheur friendly than in previous years but the climbers dominated the race. Although the weather conditions during the prologue possibly decided the winner.
Next up we have puncheurs v sprinters in Geelong.

Like today some climbers will probably build a gap on the hill and thenit is a matter of whether puncheurs can catch them before the finish.

The next stage is a regular
The next stage is a regular finish on the Tour Down Under. Similar to today with a tough late climb “the Corkscrew” but with an even shorter distance from the summit to the finish.

I am amazed I went up the leaderboard after that stage.
Luckily very few people picked Bauhaus.
1 change for the next stage as Meeus is out of the race with concussion.

The weather playing its part
The weather playing its part already.
It is going to be a difficult week for EF defending Bettiol’s lead.
It will be interesting to see whether Ineos decide to ride for Sheffield or allow Plapp & Ethan Hayter some freedom.
Unfortunately I picked Plapp over Sheffield in both my teams.

Thanks Tony,
Thanks Tony,
My last game was pre covid in early 2020, after that season disappeared I lost touch with cycling racing.
It will be interesting to see how I get on as I don’t know anything about most of the riders competing nowadays.
Interesting race to start with, will the sprinters make it over the hills in Stage 1 & 2 and will the wind play a part. The forecast looks like there could be echelons and there were echelons today in the women’s race.
Good luck to everyone.

Spring Classics and Autumn
Spring Classics and Autumn Classics were each treated as a single competition.
Limited transfers over a series of races.

Luckily I just twigged that
Luckily I just twigged that the race starts with a prologue and not a flat sprint.

Riders out of contract list
Riders out of contract list from PCS https://www.procyclingstats.com/teams/no-team-next-year
Some surprising names on there.
Sam Bennett still not signed because of contract dispute with Bora.
Daryl Impey, I’m surprised that he hasn’t been signed up yet. He would be a great fit for Dimension Data as he will almost certainly pick up quite a few WT points.
Rohan Dennis, rumoured to be joining Sky. I wouldn’t touch him with a barge pole, he was in a strop all season after losing his Australia ITT title to Durbridge, blaming the loss on his equipment. If you look at his times over the last 4 years there isn’t much difference at all – 51:23, 51:14, 50:59, 51:13 most other riders had similar times to previous years in 2019 too, except Durbridge who made a huge improvement to 51:01, nearly 1 minute better than previous years. Dennis wouldn’t have won on his old BMC, Durbridge was simply better on the day.
Peter Vakoc, again I’m surprised he hasn’t been signed yet. He looked as though he was back to his old self this season.
Enrico Battaglin. Surely one of the Italian teams will pick him up, he is still capable of producing top results his main problem at Katusha was that he was used to protect Zakarin.
Eduard Prades. Had a really good 2018 but wasn’t given a chanceat Movistar.
Riding for Katusha in 2019 looks as though it could be a career ending move for quite a few riders.

It sounds like Bora are being
It sounds like Bora are being complete *$!%s with Sam Bennett, insisting he is still under contract with them, incredible that any dispute hasn’t been sorted out by this stage of the year.
I’m not at all convinced that Cavendish will do much, when he did manage to finish in the bunch last season it looked as though he had lost determination to battle for position, I think Greipel had the same problem, no longer prepared to take the risks necessary to compete in a bunch sprint.
No more Tour of California, to be honest I won’t miss it, although last year’s race was quite entertaining. No more Tour of Turkey, I definitely won’t miss that.
Interesting to see who does the Giro, lots of ITT miles will put some riders off and attract others, particulalry as TdF is all mountains. I can’t see Bernal doing the Giro, he is Ineos’s best chance at the TdF, Thomas and Carapaz for me.
How will Trentin gets along with CCC. Personally I think it was a bad move, GVA only ever rides for himself and he will expect Trentin to play 2nd fiddle. Gilbert disappeared when he was at BMC with GVA, I suspect Trentin will do the same at CCC.

Thanks to everbody involved
Thanks to everbody involved in putting the game together, by far the best cycling game out there.
After a dreadful start to the season I am very happy with 2nd in Standard, 6th in Purist and 1st in Scorum Forum. It will be vey hard to improve on that next season.
