You do have to set it up carefully and if on the tops I find I have to raise my elbow to see, but fine otherwise.

If you own the car but don’t use it, then it should retain a slightly more value than using it so less incentive to make that journey by car. Those paying 350 a month or so for the car aren’t going to spend rich’s £8 on the bus

Peds have priority on a shared path and they can use any part of it whereas bikes have to stick to their bit and give way to peds when on it.
Cars and bikes use the same bit of road with about equal priority (slightly more to the cyclist) and (relatively speaking) users follow the rules and know what to do.
Shared paths are more of a free for all with very unequal priority. And there’re dogs…
Also all the inherent issues of driveways where might is right.

Essex are supposed to have vision zero but this is another example of where they are not backing up their vision with action. Seems to me with an 11 year old and the crass comments from the traffic collision investigator you have all the ingredients to shame them and maybe get them to take more action. All depends how much time and emotional energy you feel you can put into raising complaints and getting media interest.
