How dare they study for 3 years to get a PhD and call themselves Dr.I am also suspicious of anyone who has to big up the fact they have a phd.A while back I contracted at Oxford University. It always made me laugh how many junior departmental admin staff had PHDs in shitty subjects like botany and insisted on using the title Dr.

When I read this, I was in a country pub and had a quick read.
On leaving the pub car park, I pulled up at the exit to find 3 drivers from my left all ignoring the new 20 mph sign, on the wrong side (due to parked cars) of the narrow road, ignoring the junction ahead (danger of drivers pulling out with reduced visibility) where there were lots of cars parked in and around the junction. They carried on in excess of 30 mph I’d say.
I don’t think any of them were thinking of other vehicles (as suggested in the link) or displayed any hazard perception.

In the UK, you have to be a local authority or police or dvla.Out of curiosity: from what stage can they decide to remove a vehicle or put a clamp/lock on it? In Belgium police have to order that, not the rent-a-cops.But they do on occasion remove bicycles that are obstructing e.g. a sidewalk. When you get there, all there is, is a sticker on the ground stating ‘Bicycle removed on police order, phone…..’. And you only get it back after paying a handsome ransom (and being able to describe the bike or prove ownership).
Some London boroughs will remove vehicles which are causing an obstruction.
The dval will clamp and remove vehicles for non payment of ved.
Police will remove vehicles with no insurance.
