    38 drivers stopped – 15

38 drivers stopped – 15 vehicles bad enough to be taken off the road, in respectable Trowbridge. The tip of an iceberg. Meanwhile, cyclists should pay road tax, etc.

All my experience is as a buyer and I think if you pack it in a proper bike cardboard box and ensure it can’t move around therein, it gets treated ok – it’s too big and heavy for them to chuck around. (detach rear mech and pedals, turn handle bars, obvs). Some frames arrive with me in little more than plastic sheeting wrapping.

I get the impression there are some PITA tyre-kicking “buyers” out there who bid/offer, but can’t pay.  I prefer BIN myself. I’m suprised vendors bite on an offer at 20% below the price with the shortages and lovely spring weather.

Personally, I’d rather distance sell.  You need to get your search terms and meta data right – e.g.  I have ebay searches on 531c and on Viner for example. Yours is a bit of a niche brand in the wider scheme, with boring old unbranded steel, I think – what are the bike’s capabilities?

    The bollards were installed

The bollards were installed in October 2020 and keep all non-essential vehicles, including shop deliveries, out between 10:30 and 16:30 – long standing rule, apparently.  How ever do they survive?

The Bollards look like they’re telescopic – is  the one catching the white car at half mast? Central Canterbury will, I guess, be once again crowded with people in the longer term – but in a lot of places, real world shopping ain’t wot it used to be.

The Google image is of the scene of the crime.

    You probably want to spend

You probably want to spend £400-500 on new wheels to make a worthwhile upgrade on what I assume are Giant/OEM wheels.

    Train services disrupted by

Train services disrupted by bridge strike – I must get a couple of these each week, just from South West trains. Someone must now gets the rotten job of going out and giving the bridge the OK – another example of how cars abd lorries complicate and add to overheads – still, I’ve paid my £240 annual road tax, so that’s all right.

    Just what? Injuries

Just what? Injuries Perpetrated on a volunteer (who was trying to address a problem largely made by occupants of cars) by a drugged up driver – and yet it’s still “wear hi vis”!

Safety warning after roadside litter-picker injured in car collision

look no further if you needed a summary of how horrid and dangerous a main road is:
“If you choose to go litter picking, for your safety please don’t litter pick along roads with a speed limit of more than 30mph, highways or highway verges, or any roads where there is no pavement or footpath…and wear appropriate clothing…including a hi-vis vest if possible.”

Well, I am astounded by this

Well, I am astounded by this – a week later the police haven’t managed to trace the driver, I mean what with cars having registration plates and drivers being licensed and all – it’s as though these are not all they’re frequently cracked-up to be.

    Laverstock Road car crash

Laverstock Road car crash ‘destroyed’ steel post

“It was actually two lamp posts, a brand new galvanised one by the bridge and an older concrete one further down at the end of Cow Lane, as well as an illuminated road sign.

“The concrete lamp post was reduced to rubble and the steel one destroyed beyond recognition.”

Police are appealing for witnesses and want to know if anyone knows the whereabouts of the two men.

And what with cars being registered and drivers insured, I’m sure the police will be able to find the occupants quickly and the council can charge the insurer the reinstatement costs of the damaged streetlamps.

    LTNs “what-aboutery”. Immoral

LTNs “what-aboutery”. Immoral too, according to my Twitter today.

Look, if a road closure bugs you because you want drive on it, why not save time and say so, it’s not like that’s position that would leave you isolated, is it? On the wrong side of history, but by no means alone.

    A variety of saddle bags:

A variety of saddle bags:  Zefal, Carradice, SKS, Topeak.

Much of the above kit, with the addition of reading glasses for close work and pliers – cable issues are a common thing for me. A few spare Allen bolts.

If COVID isn’t going to clear

If COVID isn’t going to clear off completely then a lot of this country’s (brick built) hospitality needs to re invent itself along the lines of a beach bar if it is to survive at all. Let’s hope you’ll be able to ride your e-scooter down there too.

I was wondering if Howard Cox (Association of Bonehead Drivers) would like to come down?

Police hunt suspicious teen cyclist after night of destruction in village

“Rocks were thrown through car and home windows and one property was deliberately set alight in the latest of a series of disturbances that have plagued the village’s streets in recent weeks.”

“As part of their investigation, detectives are probing reports a suspicious white male teenager, wearing a hooded top and riding a bicycle, had been seen in the area.”
