A new catch-all Tea Shop thread for those miscellaneous new stories that don’t quite fit with parking, crashing into buildings or trapped/prisoners in their homes.

    Car registrations could be

Car registrations could be printed on McDonald’s bags to stop littering

yes please.  Sometimes you see two lots of McD’s or other detritus a car’s width apart – two of you literally tossed your rubbish out of the windows and drove off.

You’d think there would be private spaces available at a lower cost. I mean £338 a night is a rip off !

    Anger as cost of parking

Anger as cost of parking permit on Bath street hiked by nearly £2,500 a year

Adam Leon lives in central Bath and relies on his season ticket to park his family car. He said: “The problem is, I don’t have any choice as I live in Bath and I have a family. I can’t ask my eleven year-old child to ride her bike every day up Lansdown hill.”

He added: “I would challenge any council member to raise a family in Bath without a car.”

Keynsham councillor Lisa O’Brien objected to the traffic regulation order which brought in the increased charges. It also saw season tickets for Keynsham long stay car park almost double from £19.80 to £39.

She said: “You can’t escape the fact that this council is waging war on motorists.”

Apparently adding gravel abilities to supercars is now a thing, complete with bento boxes for the roof and wider knobbly tyres.

The news comes as North Somerset MP Liam Fox announced he will meet campaigners to see the work carried out so far later this month. Dr Fox is due to meet campaigners at the site on November 26, where he will walk the route.

Liam Fox can’t see a bandwagon without attempting to jump on it

I don’t understand why a 30 mph limit and having to wiggle between the parked cars to get onto the seafront is better than a 20mph limit and a cycle lane.

    Oh yeah – “cyclists”

    Cullompton ‘at breaking point

Cullompton ‘at breaking point’ as hundreds of new homes planned

Leaders say the town is desperate for improvements before major development takes shape

“Cullompton has had enough… There cannot be any more development”.

Then there’s the usual “sort the traffic”, of course and I’m completely confused about the effect on reatail in the the town – ten years down the line.

Yeah, I was thinking of the Cumberland Basin when I wrote the Portway. There’s also some concerns about when the Plimsoll Bridge is in use and vehicles are diverted into Bristol.

I’d much rather they just covered the whole of Bristol – why should we continue to put up with health issues caused by old, polluting vehicles?

This. Well of course, Bristol City Council doesn’t actually cover the whole of Bristol, but…
