A new catch-all Tea Shop thread for those miscellaneous new stories that don’t quite fit with parking, crashing into buildings or trapped/prisoners in their homes.

Ah yes, victory for the hard-pressed but plucky motorist, prepared to go to court if necessary.

    Residents slam ‘selfish’

Residents slam ‘selfish’ Falmouth neighbours causing major parking problems

Motorists say they can’t fit ordinary cars through the busy town street – let alone emergency vehicles

“This is my street and I have had so much damage done to my cars it’s unbelievable. The ‘wall’ side of the road seriously needs double yellow lines. We struggled to pass this morning in a Golf. In the last six months it’s got so much worse.”

    While vigorous use of the
While vigorous use of the stick on offenders *does* satisfy one human motivation (punish cheaters) to change behaviour most effectively normally needs more carrot than stick. Or you need to convince *everyone* that pavement parkers are the enemy. Interesting example of some people getting to the second point here. Maybe that was *someone else’s* pavement parking space?

I don’t see either condition achieved in most places yet though.

Don’t have a specific answer here * but finding a way to reduce the demand for car journeys then reduce the number of cars will be it.

    * Aside from issuing everyone with a mobility disorder / baby / elderly relative and removing one motor vehicle from the household…

I’m intrigued by the thought process of the commentators who say this isn’t the way to tackle selfish parking. In so much as ‘what is the right way?’. The law doesn’t help (as PBU accounts in here are clear, in desperate and flailing assumptions maybe someone else drove the car on the pavement), asking nicely doesn’t work, knowing that it blocks the pavement for more vulnerable road users doesn’t work, shaming doesn’t work…. what else is there?

I do not believe that Santa

I do not believe that Santa could ever be an audi-###ker.

    Current TV ad.

And why would a self driving car ever need to be massively overpowered?

And would the indicators still appear to be malfunctioning?

    It’s a bumper offending day,

It’s a bumper offending day, even for Garstang High School chucking-out time- £30,000 Mercedes E-Class RK69 OLU, no VED for 7 months, no MOT for 2 months, no Lancashire Constabulary action ever

to see if you are on a police

to see if you are on a police block list!

I am on a police block list! Lancashire Constabulary views reporters of offences as the problem, not the offenders. Hence, the runaway MOT, insurance and VED evasion in Lancashire.

I note car behind is an older

I note car behind is an older Audi, so will probably also be without MOT and the driver of the van behind will have an 80% chance of being on the phone

Nope! Other Audi legit, and even Lancashire drivers aren’t often on the handheld phone on this road. However, to avoid disappointment I’ll present Range Rover Evoque LR67 UMH on the A6
