A new catch-all Tea Shop thread for those miscellaneous new stories that don’t quite fit with parking, crashing into buildings or trapped/prisoners in their homes.

Land Rovers are attacking
Land Rovers are attacking other land rovers now. But don’t have a 20 mph and certainly not parking restrictions, eh Heather?

One of the reasons that
One of the reasons that Police Interceptors is ch 5’s star of cop persuit shows, apart from John Wrong’uns Thompson, is that they always play the “how many times over the limit is this pissed arsehole?”.

Upset the CoE now !
The Bishop of Worcester has hit back at drivers who have been parking their cars in the pedestrianised area of Cathedral Square.
He further added in a comment to Worcester News: “People might find it easier to use a bicycle if they want to park this close to shops and restaurants!”

Hard to believe this is real
Hard to believe this is real but it is surrey cops, so I hope so
The driver of this vehicle was arrested after providing a sample of breath with a reading of 152, the legal limit is 35. When sober the driver, who’s drivers licence had been revoked, will be charged.

On “Jed” – some of his remarks are a bit wide of the mark (a “free country” doesn’t mean lawless and no-one is going to jail over a civil dispute) but I actually agree with him on principle and I very much suspect a court would too: charges in private car parks come down to contracts, and part of entering into a contract is having adequate opportunity to understand what you are agreeing to. This is actually made clear in the BPA’s code of conduct which requires a minimum period of 5 minutes for consideration of the terms: https://www.britishparking.co.uk/code-of-practice-and-compliance-monitoringHirsute

the driver of this vehicle didn’t realise that there was an unmarked police vehicle behind her when she drove into a parked car whilst her windowscreen was frozen. Driver reported. VDU 10 22/1/23.

Gosh, these poor drivers,
Gosh, these poor drivers, having to put up with crap road surfaces. Come on, RCC hive mind, let’s see if we can think of some things they could maybe do to stay out of [checks notes] pothole hell.

and back to drivers and their
and back to drivers and their problems: Mullion, much ado about a sign, no-one can possibly afford £3 to park their car cost of living and all. Then there’s Jed from Surrey: “This is supposed to be a free country,” he said. “I am ready to go to prison on the point of principle before I pay a penny to these scammers.” – file under W for “What Cars Do To People”.
It’s an interesting tale if true: 3 minutes in the car park and didn’t actually park – makes me more wary than ever of ANPR car parks. The touching part for me is that he’s taken all this time to try to engage with them – my father would have – actually, he had it right the first time with “scammers” – it’s just about the money. He’s kept all the letters as well, look – probably does carbon copies of the ones he sends too.

I’m glad I don’t live anywhere near Bristol, if that’s the kind of misinformation they’re spreading to drivers.

It’s going to take a long time to rectify the can of worms that is the police.

Way back I considered looking
Way back I considered looking at IAM. Then walking past their old office on Chiswick High road some years back was nearly run over by someone coming out of their car park, totally oblivious to my presecne on the pavement.

it would appear that the head
it would appear that the head of the IOPC had to resign, and not quickly enough, over serious allegations, sex with a minor
And when he was appointed as the first Director General of the IOPC, during the fanfare about how the police compaints process was to be radically overhauled, the BBC article stated:
Director general of the IOPC Michael Lockwood said: “Public confidence in policing is best served by robust and independent oversight
Of course, people in public life are proved innocent of scurrilous accusations, but that requires diligent impeccable police work, so it was impossible for him to remain in charge of the body overseeing complaints against the police. All this is important to me, of course, in my ceaseless quest to sort out Lancashire Constabulary.

Saw a Range Rover driver actually smiling today instead of the usual dead behind the eyes look they usually emit.
