A spokesperson for the team said: “The driver tried his best amateur dramatics – pretended his wife was in labour and he was rushing there. He provided false details, hoping we would leave it there – we weren’t born yesterday. What we then found was 50,000 counterfeit cigarettes in the boot and the driver to be disqualified and without insurance. The cigarettes have been seized on behalf of HMRC. To those who will moan that people should ditch their cars and take the public transport available or use the park and ride schemes, well, where do you think the buses go? That’s right, they use the same roads the cars do. They end up in the same traffic jams.
On a good day, outside of rush hour, the journey through the city and out at the other end by the A30 should take 20 minutes. Today, including the tail end of rush hour, it took close to 45 minutes – and that was a good day.

Car sinks into sea near Sandbanks Chain Ferry
It was reported the car went into the water at around at 5.13pm from the carpark approximately 50 metres adjacent to the ferry ramp at Sandbanks.
An eyewitness said she was on the ferry but did not see the car initially enter the water.
She said members of the public rushed to help the man in the car.
She added it appeared the sole occupant was “pulled out” of the vehicle through the sunroof before it submerged.
