A new catch-all Tea Shop thread for those miscellaneous new stories that don’t quite fit with parking, crashing into buildings or trapped/prisoners in their homes.

    Looks good but Adams Street

Looks good but Adams Street is less than 500 m long, how on earth will it take thirty weeks? I’ve seen projects similar to this in other European countries completed in well under ten weeks.

    You’d think that if

You’d think that if transporting large amounts of illegal goods in an uninsured motor with no license that you might leave the phone alone. We seem to be lucky that many criminals ain’t that bright. We should truly fear the intelligent ones, but most will eventually make mistakes.

    But even I’m slightly

But even I’m slightly concerned when thinking about what “steep hill” means in Truro traffic.

45 minutes to get across town

45 minutes to get across town by car, you say? Poor old drivers, fleeced at every turn.

    ‘Amateur dramatics’ fail to

‘Amateur dramatics’ fail to impress M6 cops who uncover big haul

The driver was stopped for being on his phone

A spokesperson for the team said: “The driver tried his best amateur dramatics – pretended his wife was in labour and he was rushing there. He provided false details, hoping we would leave it there – we weren’t born yesterday. What we then found was 50,000 counterfeit cigarettes in the boot and the driver to be disqualified and without insurance. The cigarettes have been seized on behalf of HMRC. The driver has been reported to court for driving offences. Nice try.”

    Truro traffic hell that never

Truro traffic hell that never seems to end is just the beginning

Our exasperating experience and delays one morning this week in the chaos makes us feel like the misery is never ending

To those who will moan that people should ditch their cars and take the public transport available or use the park and ride schemes, well, where do you think the buses go? That’s right, they use the same roads the cars do. They end up in the same traffic jams.

On a good day, outside of rush hour, the journey through the city and out at the other end by the A30 should take 20 minutes. Today, including the tail end of rush hour, it took close to 45 minutes – and that was a good day.

Olivier’s been allowed by his editor (if they still have those) to go on a one man rant – but I don’t think I can do better than kernowmaid67  22 HRS AGO

Mmmm, sensationalist headline even by CL’s standards. “Horror” and “terrifies” in the same sentence, just over some roadwork inconvenience. Me thinks the reporter needs to get out more and get some proper life-experience.

    Another dislodged handbrake –

Another dislodged handbrake – in broad daylight too – shocking I call it.

Car sinks into sea near Sandbanks Chain Ferry

It was reported the car went into the water at around at 5.13pm from the carpark approximately 50 metres adjacent to the ferry ramp at Sandbanks.

An eyewitness said she was on the ferry but did not see the car initially enter the water.

She said members of the public rushed to help the man in the car.

She added it appeared the sole occupant was “pulled out” of the vehicle through the sunroof before it submerged.

‘How many people have to die?

‘How many people have to die?’ Locals demand change after deaths on ‘dangerous’ road

Four people have died along the same stretch of road in six years. People living in one village nearby want the council to do more.
