A new catch-all Tea Shop thread for those miscellaneous new stories that don’t quite fit with parking, crashing into buildings or trapped/prisoners in their homes.

How is that not blocking the pavement when there’s not even enough space for him and his dog?
Because they can walk on the road, as long as they wait so as not to inconvenience respectable motorists

that is expecting drivers to know what a blue sign means, you know to have and be able to apply some rudimentary HC knowledge.
Joking apart, would a “flying motorcycles” (Except buses) sign be better?

Anxieties swirl after latest accident on ‘terrifying’ Leighton Buzzard road where there have been 50 accidents in 5 years
e-petition
“Local people are very concerned. I’ve travelled on this road daily for more than five years. It’s terrifying. Can someone please do something about this.”response so far
It’s been acknowledged there have been about 50 personal injury accidents along this route from April 2016 to March 2022. Some of these incidents are because of common types of error, such as:46 per cent or 23 of them involved failure to look properly;
24 per cent or 12 of these failure to judge another person’s speed or direction;
18 per cent or nine were caused by careless or reckless driving by someone in a hurry;
and 12 per cent or six were the result of a driver exceeding the speed limit.EDIT – just added this up and realised its a full house. Drivers and their problems. WDIW?

Letter: Bath bus cuts having massive impact on locals, concerned resident says
The elderly resident believes a newly launched on-demand service doesn’t work and some people might even be forced to leave their job
The seldom heard voice of (former) bus users. Cars killed your bus service, Mrs Cox. (Pic: 2013 timetable)

Nimby. However he’s right… barely wide enough for pedestrians AND cycling. There is the (one-way) church Street in the other side, albeit everyone would be held up eg for funerals (those entitled mourners, slowing traffic…)Basically the fault of the entitled Church of England / historic builders (probably all Masons) for not putting in decent car parking / wider roads. Good luck with getting a faculty (is that right?) for adding some in the graveyard though. Not in keeping!

But but why have they put a road there if you’re not meant to drive on it? How am I supposed to take in all these signs, watch out for cars, pedestrians, motorbikers and cyclists AND keep to the speed limit (while balancing my coffee, checking the sat-nav, telling the kids in the back to stop fighting and worrying about what we’re going to eat this evening?Actually – in one sense in the UK with the cultural norms we have those are valid complaints. We could bridge the gap between legal expectation and daily reality by applying something like “sustainable safety” principles. Reduce the cognitive workload for drivers, prevent some foreseeable mistakes and also improve training for better understanding of the level of attention required for this task…
Then after that nick and ban anyone still incapable.
