A new catch-all Tea Shop thread for those miscellaneous new stories that don’t quite fit with parking, crashing into buildings or trapped/prisoners in their homes.

    Council owed £120,000 by fine

Council owed £120,000 by fine evading drivers

This story is interesting because of the table included – drivers always make out that they’ve been slapped with a fine and that The Terminator will come after them until it’s paid.

The “council pockets” in the sub headline grinds my gears too. If you look at the amount of fines collected, the total “pocketed” is £370,160.

    Mid Kent Shopping Centre in

Mid Kent Shopping Centre in Allington slammed for charging shop staff £50 a month for parking

strong “poor little me” vibe from drivers here and I’m not sure I understand where the Green is coming from here – seems to jump on the “it’s so unfair” bandwagon

A bit far too from home to be

A bit far too from home to be targeted; I noted the absence of a “look at my perefectly well parked car” picture.

So, someone drives to a shop

So, someone drives to a shop many miles from home, parks correctly, causes no one any harm but comes out to find a rude word written on her car for no reason…. have I got that right?

If so, I’m calling it bull dropping. Unless of course it was mistaken identity…. which I doubt.

Not far away on the A518 in

Not far away on the A518 in Telford, 2 speed cameras at Trench Lock Interchange in Telford have captured nearly 12,000 speeding shitheads during 2023.

I’ll be using Trench Lock in a couple of hours on the way to my MIL….. not my idea. I won’t be speeding (I got my first and so far only speeding ticket a mile from their in Hadley, just after they had changed the road by the old football ground…GKN Sankey FC… from a 40 to a 30. It taught me a lession!)

The point of this post is to comment: “Only 12 000….?” People use it like a race track in order to get into the A442 towards the town cente. Time to double the number of camera and increase the fines!

    Staffordshire villagers ‘ask

Staffordshire villagers ‘ask drivers nicely’ to stop speeding.

BBC News in Weston-under-Lizard, on the old A5 route east of Telford.

So laws are not enough, we have to stand at the side of the road and beg people to slow down a bit. I’d prefer a flashing sign that says ‘Slow down or you get a brick through your windscreen’. Happy to do my bit and stand there holding the brick.

Edited to add some more Shropshire Star news: No rest for emergency services on Christmas Day – a car flipped on the B5476 near Whitchurch at about 6pm. Earlier in the day paramedics and a fire crew were required after a single occupant vehicle left the A41 near Hinstock at around 4pm, crashing through a fence, narrowly missing a telegraph pole and coming to rest against a garage. The dickhead driver thankfully only had minor injuries.

    I’m with this guy:

    I’m with this guy:

‘However Cllr Kevin Reynolds from Cambridgeshire County Council has little sympathy for the drivers who get stuck.

He said: “If people driving along that road cannot see a big hole in the ground in front of them then I would argue they wouldn’t be able to see a small child.

“I would question whether they should be behind the wheel at all…” ‘

I like the way they say, ‘Warning – the image further down this story contains offensive language,’ when it’s the same image as at the top of the article.  I was looking forward to seeing some much worse language, given that there was no warning about the original image.

    That’s why the Cambridge

That’s why the Cambridge Guided Busway uses car traps instead. They don’t need to be repaired after the car drives into it but it serves the same purpose.

Four years is hardly sufficient. The Police should now explore whether they can find evidence against those these pair “helped” and if so, bring charges against them…. yes, I know, a funny from Ian. The Police actually taking traffic offenses seriously….. as if.

This must surely be a parody

This must surely be a parody book ?!

Max’s passion for cars symbolises not just a personal crusade but a wider fight for civil liberties against the backdrop of environmental exploitation and political corruption. This novel is a testament to the courage of individuals standing up against a tide of deceit and tyranny, where the roar of engines and the clash of ideologies reverberate through the streets of London.!
