A new catch-all Tea Shop thread for those miscellaneous new stories that don’t quite fit with parking, crashing into buildings or trapped/prisoners in their homes.

Three hundred hours of
Three hundred hours of community service, and a threat of prison if they are caught driving whilst banned.

Gosport Police seize two cars
Gosport Police seize two cars for having no insurance
They discovered the driver had no valid insurance, so the car was taken away, and the driver called their partner for a lift.
When the partner arrived, officers found their car also had no insurance.

This is really depressing
This is really depressing stuff – we’ve seen it before – a 20-minute stalemate over who gets to use the disabled space on the bus.

wow, his car might be dented,
wow, his car might be dented, but his arrogance is unscathed. It’s not a matter of if someone is seriously hurt but when, so long as this lunacy continues.
Outrage as Wiltshire man filmed ‘crashing £100K BMW into a hedge’
In a public post on Instagram, Parsons said that he needed to address the incident – appearing to make admissions and responding to people he claims are ‘praying on his downfall’.
He wrote: “Clearly the elephant in the room needs addressing or shall I say the m3 in the tree, thanks to everyone who asked if me and the car are all good.
“As for the little [p****s] praying on my downfall and hopping on the comments, the car isn’t written off, damaged but repairable.
“Already stripped and ready to be repaired, I’ll be back and the mtree will be better than before.
“Yesterday I read the situation wrong and it shouldn’t have happened, mistakes happen all the time. I’m not the first and I won’t be the last.” (You can say that again – 4 or 5 fatal “mistakes” every day on average.)

For the bonus, it’s quite the word salad served-up by Caffeine & Machine, (a popular coffee house and diner opened for car enthusiasts, in West Meon Hut – AKA the A32/A272 crossroads.)
“Driving is in our DNA” is the strapline.
“worship at the altar of the Cult of Machine – the amazing community that we’ve built up” also “We want our community to be respectful, open-minded, and always willing to explore new ideas and subcultures”

I demand the right to park illegally on other people’s streets and to have people parking illegally on my street removed!

Angry residents say they’ve been trapped in their own street for weeks
Residents living in the street have had enough and have reported what is happening to the council and even the police
The mum-of-two said illegal parking right on the pavements is blocking access for wheelchair users and people with babies in pushchairs. She said neither pedestrians nor drivers can see oncoming traffic when crossing roads or pulling out, causing serious risk of accidents.

So if I have this right,
So if I have this right, drivers whose day was not (and will not be) materially affected by the congestion charge are still whining about it.

In a less snarky tone myself – people really believe (and I’m sure some are right) that without the car they won’t be able to have a budget for food (can’t reach job) or won’t be able to get to the food (although delivery; although that may not be free / convenient).More vicious circles again (need to get people to change to allow different transport methods to grow, but without different transport methods why would people change).

True – aren’t most people being forced to choose between “driving and heating” or “driving and eating” these days? And then there’s the cost of snow chains, plastic scrapers and antifreeze as the temperature drops – never mind frozen parking prices, some OAPs could literally be freezing in their cars without further government subsidies (is this right? )…David9694 wrote:“The public can’t afford food, let alone the parking – the parking is outrageous,” she said.

The good news about Whitstable is that it’s on the beaten track – but there are plenty of places that are off it.
