A new catch-all Tea Shop thread for those miscellaneous new stories that don’t quite fit with parking, crashing into buildings or trapped/prisoners in their homes.

Look at Life – What Price

Look at Life – What Price Safety?  (1965)

recommend a look at this 15 minute film.

It start with this hospital, saying it was put there to deal with the results of road crashes (called accidents throughout of course). They’re testing seat belts, tyres, crumple zones; anti-lock brakes exist, but aren’t fitted due to cost.

So let me get this straight, we’re inducing more CO2-producing car trips because of the repair work needed after the CO2-induced thunderstorm?

    People queued for hours for

People queued for hours for balloon festival that caused traffic chaos

The festival in Carmarthen is now in full swing but some motorists waited more than four hours to enter the event at the Nantyci Showground

One driver said: “We’re from Kidwelly. It normally takes half an hour to get here. We’ve been here for three hours.”

We left Cardigan at 10am, and we’re just managing to get into the show now at 4.50pm. We’ve been waiting five hours. I feel tired and frustrated and can’t wait for a burger!”

One person who was travelling to the balloon festival has said it took them two hours to drive just three miles.

    POLICE INVESTIGATING

    POLICE INVESTIGATING

I’ve just realised that I should have been amazed at this proposition, where lawbreaking motorists are concerned. They certainly don’t bother with any of that nonsense in Lancashire! As soon as I type ‘W’ into the DVSA website, it knows what to do and brings up WU59 UMH (no VED for 6 1/2 years) and WT16 ATX- driving around for 4 months with a failed MOT for numerous serious defects, or parked outside the pub 50 yards from the police station as it is here. Police investigation or action:nil

If only there was a way to

If only there was a way to avoid the “sharks”.

I’d set my charges at £x per 50 minutes, or just put my hourly charges charges up by an extra 17%.

2029: 10 minutes’ grace becomes normalised and drivers campaign for a grace grace period.

Innocent drivers still at risk from “sharks running car parks” despite new code including “10 minute grace period” for overstay and a cap on charges.

    POLICE INVESTIGATING LABOUR

POLICE INVESTIGATING LABOUR SENEDD MEMBER FOR HAVING TWO NUMBER PLATES

When I read the BBC article I wondered whether she’d put a vanity plate over the original registration. Reading this article it appears that one plate was unregistered and other was untaxed.

    were there parking facilities

were there parking facilities for chariots?

I’m not long back from holiday and I have one message for the councils in Cornwall, Devon and the National Trust – Google “induced demand”, guys. Stop providing car parking at ends of pokey lanes.
