SOS – HELP!

What is the quickest way to know if your Campagnolo Record groupset is fake or legit?
I bought from Raceview and it came 4 weeks late, in a cheap ass envelope and NO box!
Help! worried now after reading all these reviews.

I read the (mostly negative)
I read the (mostly negative) comments shortly after placing an order with them for a Force 22 gruppo – several hundreds of Euros worth of parts, and was quite worried.
My experience, while not in the “excellent” category, was at least solidly acceptable.
I realized after reading about all the negative experiences that I hadn’t gotten a shipping confirmation. I sent an email, got an apologetic reply the next day, and a shipping confirmation right after that. They use a company called Parcel Force, that I’d never heard of. Here in the US they ship to some central warehouse, and then it is passed on to the Post Office, and tracking disappears with the hand over. I left for 3 weeks in Europe after the package shipped, but before it even got to the US, and dreaded coming home to one of these boxes of “Irish air” that I’ve read about.
Got back yesterday. To my relief, the box wasn’t empty, and everything I ordered was there. It’s all new, though it looks like each component box was opened and re-taped. The boxes look a bit worse for wear, but all the parts are just fine.
I’ve had a number of very positive experiences with Wiggle and Chain Reaction Cycles in the UK (with their free shipping often much better prices than I can find in the US on the parts I’m looking for), and would recommend them over Race View, at least until they accumulate a bigger body of positive reviews.

I only ordered one item to try and they sent the wrong one! Spent 6 weeks chasing them to try and get it sorted. Gave up and raised a dispute with my credit card. Avoid them.

Phew!

I would hereby like to take the opportunity to thank you all for saving me the same frustration/anger/despair most have reported in dealing with these lot. I was just about to place the order for an athena triple RD (as it’s the only place I could find one in silver) but thought it best to Google beforehand. Regardless to say my search for the holy grail will now continue having dodged this particular pothole, having already had a near miss with Aderto Cycles where I was fortunate enough to use PayPal so got a swift refund. It’s a bloody minefield.
That said, some of the hilarious comments (in adversity no doubt) have been first class. Bravo

Not to dial up the paranoia dial too much, but it’s also not unknown for a business competitor to create fake negative reviews. The posts that are most credible are the ones with details and copied emails, and there seem to be a good number of positive experiences in addition to some negative ones.
I checked back on this forum just out of curiosity, and since a lot of time has passed since my post, I think it’s safe to admit that in addition to the Campy wheels I ordered at a very good price, the box also contained a carbon Deda seatpost that I didn’t pay for. So I guess I’m either very lucky or they’re one hell of a business.
i don’t think raceview need any help from business competitors to give them bad reviews. They were crap as Shiny bikes (check out their trust pilot reviews) and just as bad if not worse as raceview cycles!

I found this thread after I
I found this thread after I placed my order with Race View Cycles, and I got somewhat paranoid. So I thought I’d share my experience here.
- I ordered a Columbus carbon fork on April 5, 2017. The ordered was succsessfully processed and I got an update a few weeks later.
- April 12, 2017 I got a tracking number via Parcleforce.
- April 20, 2017 I received my package in Seattle, WA.
Overall, pretty quick from the UK to the USA. But I did have problems:
First, the packaging was a joke: the carbon fork was wrapped in thin bubble wrap and no structural protection. I was expecting a long slender cardboard box. When I recieved the package the headtube was poking out of the package. Pretty easy to imagine this fork suffering from impact damage. It appears to be OK (and carbon forks are remarkably strong), but why would any merchant take the risk?
Second, they screwed up my address and forgot to type it out correctly. The package could have gone missing, but luckily the USPS can look up addresses by name + zipcode. I double checked my order and indeed Race View had made the typo.
Lastly, the fork I recieved was not the fork I ordered. Still a Columbus 3k tapered one, just not the one pictured. I ordered a clear gloss 3k fork with red graphics but I recieved a matt black one with white graphics. It’s not the end of the world, but it’s not what I expected. It’s still a great looking fork, and it fits perfectly into my frame.
The price of the fork was unbeatable – I’ll give Race View that. They have the best prices and I think I saved well over $100 by taking a risk with them. Overall, I would think twice about shopping here again because I’d be afraid of a missing package or simply getting something damaged. Oh, and I emailed them my concerns but a week later I have not recieved a response.
I would be happy to shop with them again if they pledged to reform their process.

I know some people have had bad experiences, but I ordered a box of fresh air from Race View cycles – the price was good and it arrived within a week. Just thought I would register to let you folks know they’re not all bad.
Not sure what they are like for frames and groupsets but for fresh air I recommend them highly.
